Street Riding Preferences

I think all street riding is awesome, but there seems to be more and more of a line being drawn between different schools of street riding. There are the super creative set-up riders like Drew Hosselton, Tate Roskelly, and Erik Elstran. Then there are the undeniably good (and still creative) street riders like Garrett Reynolds, Stevie Churchill, Alex Kennedy, and Simone Barraco, who could do about 30 tricks on a single flat ledge. Then there are the dudes in the middle who are all about the spot, pretty much the entire Animal team. Obviously there is never any clear cut way of saying "this guy is this kind of rider, and this guy is totally different", most street riders have moments where they're being super creative, and moments when they're just taking a trick they've done 100 times to a new set-up. I personally enjoy all schools of street riding but have a certain fondness for those clips where the spot is the main focus.

What do you guys prefer?

either spot style or creative. the whole super good style is just boring to me

I'm on the vital legit list!

I definitely prefer the first type.

i used to like pork till i found out it came from cops...

I enjoy watching both types of riding. I really like tech flat rail and ledge riding, because I mainly do that myself. I love watching pegless street riding like Garrett Reeves, Eric Lichtenberger and you Zach, too. Other than that, one of my favorite riders is Charlie Crumlish, because of his unique style.

I like all kinds of street riding, all kinds motivate me to go ride, depends what mood I'm in tho I guess.

What would you guys call theses different types of street riding mentioned above by the OP?

I've always been under the impression that within street riding you get:

Burly street
Flow street
Tech street
Creative street

And a mix of all of the above, that's always how I've seen it anyway.

Really loving what the animal team do, qss#5 was so good, thinking of doing a self filmed edit in the same kinda style probably gonner wait til next year tho when I've got all the new trix im working on dialled in.

I prefer the way the pegless dudes ride, seamus mckeon, eric lichtenberger, and whoever else. they seriously kill it and have no really cookie cutter tricks. dont get me wrong, i like to shred a flat ledge as much as the next guy, but come on lets think outside the grind box here.

I like watching nutty combos or anything fast and ballsy more so than tech. But there's nothing better than seeing a rider get outside the box and use a spot to it's fullest potential. I think creativity and spot location go hand in hand, just takes a dude with a good eye and the will to pull some cool shit.

I like to ride fast myself, but I can get stuck on a techy line until I land it. More specifically, I look for something twitchy where I have to react fast.

i like flat/street. like manuals, wheelies, 180, 360, feeble, smith, double peg, and the occasional 5 stair. i dont like to get air. i don't have much bike control in the air. but i do like grind combos and stuff like that.

Alex Kennedy, Tate roskelley, and Simone Baracco are my favorite riders.

Alex is a stylish freecoaster with cassette type ridin intertwined along with bangers

Tate, he is just an artist with his uniqueness

And Simone is the techy, yet modern street rider, he has flow, bangers, linkage, and creativity wrapped into one lanky Italian body.

Trey Jones does some cool stuff, Tate rosekelly, Kenny Horton & Scootie. I like a mixture of substream tricks that aren't overdone and speed. Mike Hoder is on another level with his 3's, I love watching him ride, Trey Jones makes everything look easy and Scootie just does some hard hitting stuff. I think the Garrett Reynolds generic barspins that, tooth that, whip that gets a bit boring, Stevie Churchill can do anything, he's a machine, but it's all been done before.

Yeah I'd say you were bang on, I would have substituted steven Hamilton for Erik Elstran, but that's only cuz I have no idea who that is, but i will be sure to check him out.

I think another category could be added, OG Street, for the animal/skavenger team, they've been doing some of the coolest stuff longer than anyone.

I like a mixture of tech, speed, and gnarly. Im not really that great but I love nose manual and nollies into tricks and I love blasting spots like wallrides and small ledges. I also like doing stair sets and such... To hit up on a 6 set is like seeing a speed bump in a car "oh damn, was that a speed bump?" --> "was that a 6 set?" I did that with a 7.5ft tall 9 set about a month back. I saw my buddies power manualling down it (we were leaving a spot I had never been to) and I got it mixed up with the 5 set after it... I rolled up to it at high speed "Commit or Die" is all I thought. I just hopped it and I didnt even feel the landing lol

-sorry, I just realized I type a story on nearly every comment lol
