My Demolition Rotator hubguard seized on the axle and it won't loosen or tighten. Wtf. The orginal cone nut was SO tight , I even had to step on my freecoaster internals , and YANK but even then it would not come loose. The wrench slipped off and damaged the threads. It took my friend , who has been on a coaster for 5 YEARS , who is also 200 lbs + , to step on the axle , and lean back and pull as hard as he can. He's a big guy too. It took him 5 minutes to take a CONE NUT OFF.

Anyways I put the guard on and left it to ride. today , I tried removing it to regrease everything and I wanted to switch the tophat , so I can have FULL slack , not just without the washers. A friend and I tried , and it got loose just slightly , then seized. We fucked with it for 45 minutes and it was seized. His dad who is also a pretty big guy stood on the axle and tried to loosen and (He also works at a bike shop , even owned one at one point) and he couldn't do it.

I want to know if Demolition will warranty or at least offer a discounted replacement. A fucking cone nut should not be that tight , and now because of a little slip , I need a new fucking axle. Lame. Even worse , the instant I get my wheel , they release a V2 Rotator with a solid axle and needle bearings. It's spring break , and I can't even ride. I'm emailing them right now , but I don't have any money for an axle (Just blew 275$ on the wheel itself) and now I need to get new parts and puttingit together will cost alot too.

First impression sucks Demolition....yah , it was me who slipped the wrench off , but you release a new updated coaster right after , and it was the cone nut that fucked me over. I hope they will help a bro out...

I have that freecoaster too, I don't use hubguards, (I think they're overrated and not really usefull) I think it's great.
I'm a bit dissapointed too that they are realeasing the v2 of it shortly after the first version. Do you know when it'll be realised?

I HATE To Say This To You Buddy, But This Is Why Thread On Hub Guards ARE Shit! Contact Demolition Don't Be A Dick About It, But Get Yourself The Replacement Parts & Then Get Yourself Something Like A Daily Grind Or S&M Cymbal Slide On Guard & Leave The Cone Nuts On The Hub & You Have Less Chance Of Stripping The Axle!

This Is Also Why I Love REAL Female Axles! Press Fit Guards Are DEFFO The Way To Go, But Of Course Right Now There Are NO True Female Freecoasters -__________________________-

Wasn't aware not wanting your hub to look like this & not breaking spokes was classified as being overrated.

But doesn't that hub have an allen key insert you could have used to remove the guard easier? I'm not sure why you had to have the axle stood on to remove the guard.

I did that Sunday. It is baffling that a guard would not come off , even with multiple people attempting to remove it. I have to heat it up , and try to remove it with a vice then . I just emailed Demolition. Hopefully , I can get a axle. I still would have to remove the guard though.

Aluminum hardware/guards are prone to seizing, I hate them. My Mary-Kate front hub guard never seized though but my BSD guard (the core part of it) was hard to get off at times even with a lick of grease on the threads.

One thing you can try is putting the drive side of your rear wheel in the outside of one of your dropouts, tighten that side down as much as you can, then try to remove the hub guard. If the axle nut comes loose, just tighten it up again & try to loosen the guard again. I've dealt with this before. Cult's hub guards are prone to seizing (like the company & all, but dafuq Cult.. Threaded axle hubs but press fit hardware? Even asked them about this & still didn't understand their logic.) Anyway, I had a Cult front hub guard on my Mary-Kate before because it was bigger, and eventually my axle actually dug threads into it & it seized. One day I went to replace a spoke & tried tapping it off, didn't go. Hit it harder, didn't budge. Thought I could budge it loose with a big monkey wrench so I tried that & figured out the threads on my axle actually somewhat threaded the guard, so I just unscrewed it. It took a good bit of force & was hot afterwards, but I got it. So give that a try

Was going to get this hub then decided to wait for the profile .....I never run hub guards but thinking about selling out to ride hub guards if I want to try backwards grinds and stuff like that.....,I'll remember to avoid threaded guards

Btw, I said I think it they're overrated and not usefull as I never did any major damage to a hub because of not having a hub guard.

And I said that I think they are overrated, based on my experience - I never broke or see a hub break because of grinds.

When it comes down to seeing what they will do, asking on here never helps. Someone will give you some expectations they would, and then if they don't you would flip out.

I NEVER suggest asking online if a company will do something WITHOUT ASKING THE COMPANY DIRECTLY.

But as to the situation, I would have called them up as soon as possible the first go around to ask what they suggest you do, because it was likely WAY overtightened from the factory. Worst case they would tell you to send it back in to have things done. Yes, it is a pain, but if you send it in right away with issues, you are more likely to be taken care of rather than trying yourself and causing damage. I did something similar with a headset years ago, and broke it installing it with improper tools (back in 2004 or so) and DK refused to help me at the time, because I didn't use correct tools or have a professional install it. (This was well before my shop service manager days)

To answer whether or not they will, I don't know.
