I'm 16, about 5'7. Looking for a new frame. What will feel better for me, 20.75" TT and 13.130″ slammed or 20.5" TT and 13.55" CS.

Look into mutiny or MacNeil i think they make frames with pretty short chainstays

|

3/13/2014 11:25 AM

I think i remember seeing a mutiny frame with a 13.0" cs.

|

3/13/2014 11:47 AM

The wza had a 12.8-13.4 i think if you want a super short cs

Btm has a 13.1-13.5 also

Also just wondering whether i would prefer a top load stem to the front load i already have.

|

3/14/2014 8:29 AM

There is no difference in front load and top load stems unless your flipping a top load then that makes a difference weather it's upside down or not

|

3/14/2014 8:31 AM

Topload eiwill make your bars feel taller and probably out more, which will make your frame feel even bigger. what bars do you havr now?

I have a similar question. I'm 6'0 I've ridden a 19, 20, and now 20.5 frame and its still too short for me? Should I skip 20.75 and go right to 21. Or should I get an even longer TT. Also what does cs even change while riding, or is it just preference?

|

3/14/2014 9:19 AM

Shorter chain stay length basically means shorter overall length of the bike. It makes tricks like whips easier.

You need a 21" top tube, there's no doubt to that, you could even go a bit bigger and have no problems.

The chainstay length is personal preference. A shorter chainstay is going to be snappier making the front wheel come off the ground easier but it makes the bike less balanced. Guys who do a lot of airs tend to like a bit of a longer chainstay for extra flow and balance while landing.

Well personally I'd just get a 20.75 (or 29.85 if you want the wza) with a topload. it'll make your frame feel a bit more like a 21" which should be a good size for you
