Hey all! A bunch of the people I used to ride with 12 years ago or so have started riding again. I've decided to join them. I am going to order a frame from Standard tomorrow, but I am unsure on top tube length. This is something I was never really concerned with, but after riding a 20, 20.5, 21 and 22" tt this last week, I'm not sure what to get. I'm 6' 2" and a few people are telling me to get a 22". I'll just be riding trails and I feel like a 22" is too big. It felt decent at the track, but trying to do anything else seems difficult. I really think a 21.5 tt is the way to go. Remember, it's been like 12 years since I seriously rode in any form.

Any tall riders willing to give input would be appreciated. Sorry if this topic has been seen before. I only saw older posts about this topic and wanted to get some fresh thoughts.

I'm 6'6 and riding a 22.5". 22 will be fine for you. So will 21.5 probably. Or say fuck it and split the difference at 21.75. Or don't. It's all a personal preference.

riding trails is even more of a reason to get a 22in. i mean shit if youre really only gonna ride trails then maybe consider one of those 26in dirt jumpers, i hear theyre awesome on dirt

21.25"-21.5", you said yourself that 22" felt too big.
I'm 6'4" and ride a 21.25" and feels perfect.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! Like I said, it has been a while since I have been one BMX and I cannot even remember what my last bikes tt was. I would agree that it is mainly personal preference, but that is just hard for me to pinpoint without much riding time in.
