So i've been using DSLR's since I first got into film making (about 2005) Ive been filming MTB for about three years, and I just started filming BMX and skating in 2014. One thing I've noticed about the skater/BMX filming community is that they're kind of stuck in the past when it comes to the gear. It seems like DSLR's are a new thing here.

So what are your guys' thoughts on DSLR's?

i prefer zoom handle camcorders (hvx200, hmc150, hpx170) over dslrs simply because the century extreme is much wider than a dslr fisheye and smooth zooming is a lot easier, plus you dont need a handle

Practically the same bmxsteve said I like the zooming you get to utilize and the look and sound is great, pretty much you get a good camera all stock no adding of stuff and whatnot and usually built with a handle too.

I just sold my old trv950 and have been stuck with a 60D DSLR, dont like it for filming but the quality is crisp. If I could afford a vx2100 I'd take it instead and most likely will
