I usually am on albes, supporting the locals, or even some guys on here buying second hand, but looking for an Alienation Deviant rim and Time2Shine seems to be the only one who “has” it… Did they used to be a little sketchy back in the day or am i remembering a different site? Not accusing them of anything, more just tryna legit check before i drop some $

They have scammed many people many times. I would be very surprised if they actually had it.

Didn't the deviant have a name change? And an update? Might be why you can't find them for sale anywhere

they came out with a few new rims, some are comparable to the deviant but not really it.. i honestly want it for the weight/price. I have a Malice that’s 11oz and fckin solid.. but it’s $89 and i remember Deviants/Skylarks being $40-50

I would get a better rim honestly. But if you’re set on it, email Alienation directly and see if they have any laying around or will have them restocked anytime soon.

Time2Shine fucking sucks and WILL scam you, then when you make a thread calling them out, they’ll email you asking you to take it down then offer to send you the part you should already have, as compensation. They’re a shit shop run by shit people

|

7/10/2022 3:39 PM

I'm surprised anyone would even consider "ordering" through them with all the shit we've seen people go through with them. If you do and you have problems aka get Scamed, not much can be said that hasn't already. I hope it doesn't happen to you though whatever your choice.

OKAY...I'm a local meaning I'm like 15 mins from the shop. He has product, BUT...he will not fix the problem with the site showing product in-stock when he doesn't have it. I asked why not and he said he had the software to fix the problem, but just shrugged his shoulders. I offered to rebuild his site because I told him...compared to any other well-known BMX online store, his is all over the place. It's the little things, like taking too many clicks to get to products ect. He said he had someone for that and never would give me a straight answer. Matt, the owner is set in his ways and doesn't feel the need to change despite how he knows a lot of people on the internet call his business Time 2 SCAM. He brings up vital and how so and so wrote bad reviews etc. If you are local I'd say go see if he has the product, but don't deal with him online. I don't understand how he makes the money and runs his business as he does and is still around.

He has no alienation rims in 20 in when I went into the shop a month or more ago. He said he's supposed to get them, but no, despite it saying it online...he has none in stock.

Literally the worst website to order BMX stuff from. The sleaziest shop in BMX!! Even if they have the product, they don’t deserve anyones money imo.

This shop scammed me on an online order many years back. Never sent out the order and blocked my phone number after the first time I called to request a tracking number after an extended period of time with no shipment confirmation.

They ceased all communications with me after that single phone call, and then only re contacted me about the situation once I had wrote an online review about my experience. They only reached out to bribe me into taking the review down, when all they had to do was send me my order or a simple refund in the first place!

Now all these years later, they are slandering my name publicly in their responses to negative reviews from their other unhappy customers on Google.

The way they talk to and about their dissatisfied customers says it all..
Photo

It’s crazy to me that I’ve been moved on from the situation for probably 8+ years now? But yet my name is still fresh in Matt’s mouth anytime he scams someone the same way he scammed me.

As if having to worry about being scammed wasn’t bad enough, you also have to worry about Matt slandering your name for years to come when ordering with Time2Shine.

Tim, I think he misses you... and maybe is jealous at your ability to update your online store to show whether or not you have parts in stock.

I like to use their business model as a step by step guide on how NOT to handle website / customer service situations of my own. Hah.

I’m surprised they’re still around and have the support of anyone in this industry. But I do see that they managed to get a lot of their negative reviews from bitd taken down..

From what I gathered...this is why he has a problem with Powers because I mentioned I sold some used stuff and that's when he brought you and he said he's not scamming anyone and his shop pulled in over a million last year in sales. He seemed like he wasn't really phased by it, but reading that comment he left and how he dropped your name. Then he dropped that childish insult that insinuated you were gay? Like, step back and realize how you are representing yourself. You are this business owner that makes it even worst. Honestly, I've went to his shop because I didn't want to pay the shipping on some smaller stuff, but I'll find what i need online or support the nearest shop about 30 miles away.

On a different note, he said he was planning to change gears and turn the mail order more into Mtb than BMX. Also, a name change is in order...apparently.

Let us know if/when the name change happens because I'll look up all the old threads calling them out and edit them to add their new name, that way when people look up time2shine, it'll still show up.

Lol I haven’t worked for those dudes in 2 years, so that would be an awfully odd reason to hold a grudge over their heads?🤔 and my position with Powers started long (5+ years) AFTER my interaction with Time2Shine, so also super weird that he would EVER hold a grudge against Powers because of me? lol

I get that he’s mad at me for leaving a poor review of his shop and all, but I shouldn’t have ever had to leave a review in the first place. What else is there for a customer to do when a company has taken their money, blocked their phone number, and not sent paid-for product (nor a refund) after a whole month?

It’s also worth noting that, at the time of my interaction with Time2Shine, there was anywhere from 20 to 40 extremely similar reviews all over the web. People getting their numbers blocked, never receiving shipping confirmations, and being completely ghosted up until the point of writing a review. Which is always when Matt would finally step up and contact the buyer to “make things right.”

Obviously he’s been hard at work cleaning up his image, because I’ve noticed that majority of those reviews from back then have been erased.. maybe he successfully bribed those people to take them down?

Anyways. That’s why he hates me. I’m that 1 person that wouldn’t give into his petty bribery tactic. Because I actually care about the BMX community and was not / will not ever stand for scammers.
Scam me once, shame on you. Scam my friends, shame on me for not speaking up!

-

PS. My order from him was for 1 tire. Of course, he advertised to have it in stock even though it was discontinued and in fact, not in stock.
He blocked my number and tried to get away with sticking me for a measly $40.

And that measly $40 has kept my name fresh in his mouth for 8 years now.. that’s incredible to me. Would have taken less than 8mins to tell me the tire was out of stock and send me my money back.
What a stand up guy.🤣🤣

Also PS.,

Nobody abandons the whole genre of bike riding that has been their main source of income for decades and rebrands their entire shop all together when they’ve done nothing wrong.

Their reputation in BMX has been ruined for 10 years now by none other than their own doings, and he knows it. And it has nothing to do with me, even if my review is the most popular one online. Realistically, I’m one of probably 100+ people that they had scammed in the exact same fashion.

And surely there was people that he successfully scammed without them leaving reviews, otherwise I don’t know why he’d continue to scam and deal with angry customers for years to come?
I mean he literally “sponsored” almost an entire custom build to a chick here on the forum (Chelsea I think her name was?) as a bribe to get her to take her review down?? He had to be banking in on this scam of his to be able to justify such a bribe, and then proceed to scam me (and however many other people) the same way a year later?

I truly hope Matt has turned over a new leaf and changed his ways. But I will never have an ounce of respect for anyone who has benefited from scamming BMX riders. Let alone someone who acts like a victim and holds grudges for being called out on their own actions.

Hopefully he can be a better bike shop owner in the MTB community than he chose to be in the BMX industry. Either way, good riddance.

Well, it's not just BMX that he sells...scooters, watches and mtb, etc. Has he done that much in sales? He's doing something to have lasted this long and have a storefront, but when change happens as in a new location in such, there wonts be a storefront. Also, it's just one guy running everything...he gets help from a few friends, but it's pretty much all him and it shows.

I never heard of TIME2SHINE until I got on here last year. I was surprised, to say the least, but over time, I've seen how he runs things and how he doesn't seem to care to keep his site up to date on stock, etc. I've seen how he acts online and then you realize this guy is a business owner and one that supposedly pulls in over a million in sales a year? From what I can tell he hasn't changed. In person, he's come across as a nice dude, but that was before I really paid any attention to all that dumb shit he's done or said online. And yeah, he acted like he just wanted to rebrand and it came across as a bit odd because it's not like he's selling the business.

I did ask him a handful of times before I knew of his past about working at TIME2SHINE...because I genuinely wanted to come on board and try to help make a change..for one he needs to stay away from commenting on anything online. Keep that to your social media person. Fix the site so it actually shows when stuff is in stock. Keep up on the stock. Make a better site which he personally told me he modeled his site after https://jrbicycles.com/ and it def shows. Coming from a web dev background, I think you need to think about the user experience. I personally feel a site like Empirebmx is a good example of a simple design. It's not cluttered, and you can go from one product to another fast. You also know that if it's in stock...it's in stock.

Reading some of the reviews...comes across like Matt is writing them to boost his ratings...like this one

Really do not understand why this shop gets so much hate. The owner is self made, cool, knowledgeable, and they have a ton of inventory in an area where the local scene died years ago, and they are still trying to get something going in the area. Great crew at this shop, great selection, and a great mechanic on top of it all. Highly Recommend!

Don't tell me that doesn't sound like someone tooting their own horn hardcore. lol

I'll be the first say admit I'm a bit bitter toward Matt nowadays. The reason being I offered help is because he pretty much does it all and it shows...and he just didn't care for the help. And I might add, he was cool with the idea with me coming on board once a new location was in place, but it became obvious...he doesn't see anything wrong with how he runs his mailorder. Doesn't care that the site tells his customers stuff is in stock, when a lot isn't. Why would you put yourself through all that when it's a simple fix? I dont know if it's because he doesn't have nearly as much stuff in stock as the site shows and he wants people to keep buying even if he has to refund and have customers deal with reaching out to him ect.
