Daniel Dhers put on RNC titanium cranks this morning.

Photo

This is the weight comparison compared to his previous setup (Profile with a titanium spindle)

Photo

Daniel is off the bike for a few days with a minor injury, so he hasn't gotten to ride them yet.

What do you think? Would you ride them? Do you trust them? Is this the future or just a weird anomaly?

I would ride titanium thunderbolts if i were to ever ride ti cranks lol

Was thinking the same. Curious to see how they hold up.

What are the units in the photo? Does that say 1lb 5oz?
If so- then you save 170 grams but end up paying (I’m guessing) $600+ for that set up. Good if you’re rolling with maximum cash flow

I would heavily consider rocking those on my next setup.

|

7/23/2020 4:46 PM

All that money for 6oz, wow..

Also notice, he's wearing a Rolex..

If you have money for a rolie, you don't give a fuck what cranks cost...

Would I ride them? Yes.

Would I buy them? Nah.

I wonder why the price is 420 straight up, maybe you gotta be smoking something to even think about buying them?

Looks like they take a possible proprietary spindle too.. But I'll bet that doesn't cost that much, maybe a couple hundred? SMH

The ones in the first picture are 48 spline though?

A local here in MN has them and the ti guard sprocket. He rides mostly street. We can use him as the guinea pig.

If someone said "here, ride these" I would in a heartbeat.

Or if I had the cash.

But I also have slowed down and don't get too nutty on my bike anymore.

If money was no object, I would get Ti everything I could, basically run BK's bike but with more seatpost and less gyro. And some pegs.

A hell of a lot cheaper then the Titanium cranks for mountain bikes (Cane Creek eeWings).

I'd love to run the RNCs personally but I am way too cheap for that.

The crank arm trellis design looks cool but riding trails would have 6 ounces of dirt built up in the crank arm real quick.

Oh definitely blue then; Pink & blue represent the quintessential colors for boys / girls so the combo would be a perfectly balanced yin & yang colorway.

If they're as strong as they claim they are I'll give them a shot, but only after a few months of other people out there riding to see how they actually hold up. $420 isnt that much if you never have to buy cranks again.

I for one hope this actually becomes a trend, it's not.

Titanium IS amazing when used properly. It also feels amazing to ride, especially when going fast and going big are concerned. This is arguable, and I know not everyone shares this opinion. I like the flex, especially on a trail. I'm personally glad to see quality titanium BMX parts from RNC available again.

The cycling industry as a whole operates on trends. Capitalism (as it is) operates on trends. BMX is no different.

haters gonna hate though.

To each their own. I actually always preferred a light bike and have rode titanium spindles and they feel no different from a chromoly one when actually riding. The RNC stuff seems silly and gimmicky to pay 100+ for a sprocket or stem or whatever to save an ounce or two that you’ll never notice. titanium spokes do seem to make a difference but after breaking a bunch of them I’d rather save the $150. It also depends on what you ride. The park rat kids seem to like the titanium.

The cutout between the spindle boss and sprocket bolt is concerning. They’d still be lighter than other cranks if that cutout was minimized.
