Howdy all y'all. My 10 year old is riding a stock GT Pro expert size bike. He wants to use some birthday cash to start upgrading it for speed. Looking at the bike's specs (linked below) what should the first area off attention be? Thanks in advance.

Decent on guitars, piss poor on bikes

Depends what the budget is really, a new wheelset could save a bit of weight and be a faster/smoother ride. Or some carbon forks would save weight too. Other than that it would be little things like a lighter stem. Bigger sprocket for higher gear (harder to pedal, faster top speed). But to be honest, that bikes pretty dialled and I don't know how much of a difference any of that would really make

This bike is solid as heck, looking at the specifications list. I say hold off on anything big for now. But hey, can't go wrong with some ODI Longneck grips on there! :D
