I am not sure where you got your conversions, but I took the total ounces divided by 16 as there are 16 ounces in a pound. EVERY set is lighter than what you posted, by a fair amount.

The point of the thread is how heavy these new beefy tires are, i find it nice he did some sort of math for us all to try and show us how heavy they really are.

I am now running an MTT front and 2.3 Primo WLT rear and they are a lot heavier then a smaller tire. I think something a lot of street riders like it because light bikes can get really twitchy when you 360 off stairs, etc. I really like the bigger tires because it feels more stable. The weight isnt a problem for me because i workout. I think in a few years, if history repeats itself and BMX gets all light and crazy again all the big tires will have to be foldable or something. Who knows?

I appreciate it too. These tires are just not as heavy as he claimed.

Interesting thread !

Who cares about weight. I'd rather have a good set of durable , grippy tires at 2 pounds each then have a crappy set that are lighter. I want to try a Shadow Valor in the back and Strada in the front , or maybe both nighthawks.

Out of curiosity, how would you figure out rotational weight? If its really any different then the regular weight and not just something you feel

It's just the regular weight, but it's much more noticeable because it's rotating.

Haha i was thinking about this the other day. It's the same situation for those kids getting coasters just to be trendy, I'm sure a few months ago they wanted the loudest and lightest cassette hub. Wonder how many kids will get a coaster and be like "Why doesn't it make any noise?!"

LoLages!..

Love The Freecoaster Comments! Unless they get an EZRA Hub, Freecoasters weigh more than pretty much every Cassette Hub on the Market! So we have Tyres that weigh the same as most of their Frames & a Heavier, Silent Rear Hub!!

Dun, Dun, DUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!

Seen this at the skate park. Kid had a halflink chain, mds, and deharts with three pegs. Said "the fuck my bike so heavy?" He had cash to blow, and got the trendiest shit that the lbs carried. Damn city kids.
