Weird rattle noise from my front end?

I have no idea what it is, my spokes are tight. I took off my stem and check my headset etc.. and there was nothing wrong.

It happens when my front wheel touches the ground (if I hop/ lift up and drop front end)

It sounds like a tinny noise (kind of like a spoke hitting the ground)

Maybe you need new bearings in your front wheel? Take it apart and inspect it.

Do you run brakes? If you do it's probably you're brake lever rattling or your cable hitting your bars. Try holding the lever while you bounce the front end

|

9/1/2013 6:38 PM

front axle might be loose or you could need new bearings in it open it up and inspect it is your front hub sealed or unsealed

If your wheel doesn't have play and everything else is tight its most likely this sometimes you can't even fix it without over tightening your lever so you might have to just put up with it.

Do you have pegs with anti spin screws? Sometimes when mine loosen they make a noise like that.

|

9/2/2013 8:03 AM

I don't run pegs or brakes.

I have sealed bearings, what do I do?

Got me, man. You sure some piece of grit didn't fall inside the tubing of the bar or something and rattles now? Maybe in the fork leg? Best thing I could think to do is to try and isolate each part by removing it and shaking or tapping it on something to see where exactly it's coming from.

|

Pull your front wheel off, hold the axles in your fingers, and see if you can duplicate the sound without the bike attached. Feel around for loose parts. Chances are, if something is loose enough to make a noise, feeling around and taking a good look at everything will find it.

So I did this, it doesn't make a noise with the bike,it makes no noise.

I checked for loose spokes and they're not loose, I can grab them so they make the squeeky noise if you know know what I mean.

Are there ball bearings in the hub?

Maybe one fell into the shell or something...

Sucks...maybe swapping out bearings will fix it... maybe something fell apart in one of the cartridges.

best way to tell if its the wheel/hub is take it off the bike and just bounce it a few times then if it is the spokes or something then it will rattle when bouncing the wheel smile also might be a idea to take the tyre and tube out of the rim and inspect the rim make sure everything is sound and clean inside and free of any forgien objects an if it doesn't make a noise start with the forks take them off the bike shake them about a bit there might be a small stone or something in them and then take the bars off and shake them about a bit props flush them out with some water then put everything back together making sure that everything is tight like the wheel in the dropouts the compression bolt the stem bolts and also the break lever then check everything. also while the forks are out be a good idea to give your headset bearings a good clean get all the old grease off them regrease properly

Got the problem resolved.

My Dad brought it to the bike shop when I was in school, they tighten the wheels etc... tightened a few loose spokes.

I have come to a conclusion :

There is a small pebble at the bottom of my fork arm,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but he said it was 15 Euros, which is ~20 US Dollars.
