That's fucking insane.
Looks gorgeous.

I don't know if it is to be trusted, but certainly worthy of the model name WTF

I think this was brought up on here before

Yep there it is

Still no confirmation if it's welded, then brazed to give it that look or if it's just brazed. If it's just brazed, from what I've read (which is very little so I could be wrong) then it's a fair bit weaker than welded.

If it's welded then brazed, would it make it stronger? I don't know much about brass

No, not really. It may help prevent cracks but it probably wouldn't do much since brass is super soft.

It's what instruments are made from. Like a trumpet or trombone. It dents crazy easy and can bend if you're not careful. That's the tubing of course.

So I guess it's just for looks, I'd totally rock it with some gold parts. Too bad their frames only come in one size each.

I used to work in Singapore for 3 years.

I see a lot of kids riding impurity parts.

I'm stopping by at Singapore for 2 days this december, i'll ask around if someone actually bought this WTF frame.

I wouldn't trust it. Even steel road bikes aren't brazed anymore. It has a much lower melting temperature meaning the join won't be as solid. Plus it will effect how well any heat treatment will work. It's just a gimmick, otherwise other companies would do the same (and would've thought about it a lot sooner)

Brazing is basically just gluing the metal together. If it was just brazed together the frame would snap really quick.

|

11/7/2015 9:23 AM

I read it's a lot weaker.

Yeah it is. Brazing is not intended for anything that needs to be structurally sound. Brazing is literally like flying two pieces of metal together. While welding actually fuses the metal together to be one.

The bmx frame here though looks like it's welded then brazed. The brazing is just for looks...basically just bondo on the seams to make it super smooth. It's crazy that it's not even a $300 frame though lol. Makes you wonder how good the welds are underneath that they are hiding lol.
