I have always just had Chuck Taylor hi tops....

bought a pair of Addidas Seely's off of Dan's about a year ago and I like them as well...they stick to the pedals better, but I almost always have my Chuck's on. I don't ride brakeless tho so I never use my shoes to stop, if that matters

Yeah, I've been a "Chucks" rider for decades (see my profile pic from '87). Probably not the best out there for BMX but they've never been a source of problems for me. In fact, I don't know that I ever really worried about shoes.

Any Vans Pros. Don't bother with classics. Your feet will thank you.

Are chucks any good for everyday use, like walking to work and stuff? They always seems very flat to me which can't be comfy at all.
I am however thinking about getting a pair just to finally throw away my bloodstain Jordans(Nike hates people with wide feet)

In all honesty, Chucks aren't known to be good shoes for your feet. I love them & a lot of other people do too but they really don't offer proper support. I'd bet podiatrists would (nearly) unanimously state that Chucks are awful for your feet. I've never had an issue with Chucks, but I don't have foot issues either (knock on wood).

I ride Dr. Marten 8-eyelets,Always have: Grippy, last a long time, Great for brakeless cause basically motorcycle boots, nice support and comfortable. I only lace six eyelets so the boot isn't so stiff on the ankles and I've never felt restricted. . .

I always have to buy off eBay or amazon.
I like DVS with rubber or reinforced toe. And heel cushion if available.

So many shoes nowadays are garbage, like wearing a glorified sock.

WOAH!

I would like to see a picture of that! If you're riding the leather 4130s, than... You must have a big budget. How long do they last?

Docs are my daily go to-s now because they're so comfortable and supportive. I've had enough of the Taylor and Vans shoes ripping apart after only a year. These leather boots, with proper soles, are really a good investment in my opinion. I hope they will last something around 3-5 years.

But I don't get how you ride with them!

I wouldnt.

They have fat soles; you wouldn't feel a thing at all through all that rubber+air cushion pockets. And the pedals would tear that expensive stuff apart (I run metal pedals with sharp ass pins). And the dirt, humidity, mud is gonna ruin the leather too...

I've always been a Vans go to guy, because of their thin flat soles (with the waffle for the pedals) and supportive sides and top. Chuck Taylors feel the opposite: really thin and flexy on the sides, with a fatter, disconnected feel from the pedals.

I just picked up some Nike Zoom Blazer Mid XT Bota for just over $50 on the interwebs. Rode them a few times and they seem to be more protective than the Vans I've got, good grip on my pedals too. My feet aren't all bruised from failing at tailwhips is what I'm trying to say.

No I don't have a big budget-when I didn't ride my last pair lasted me 3 years, with aggressive riding the current pair has lasted me a year so far and I'm due for another pair. Dr. Martens are pretty Durable, Shit Motorcyclist use them and all they do is drag their feet on the road with them. I've never had an issues with grip or wear, I Might be cheating because having a shank on your boot kind of catches the pedal when you hop. I've been fine riding Docs. They're $110 a pair but last triple what skate shoes would last me regardless of if they were $70 Adidas, $50 Vans or even $20 Payless Shoes which'd usually last like 3-4 months, I'd usually worn a hole in the sole and had a toe or two poking out of the top. 1yr+ for $110 a pair or 2-3 pairs for the Year of some vans Old Skools for $40 or some Adidas for $55? I like riding in Docs, I've never considered changing.

Es Accel has the best sole pattern of any shoe

I swear by them I've probably had 2 dozen pairs, the pins of your pedal for right in pattern they are almost too good

Depends what you're doing. I've found the sole on the etnies jameson 2 eco last a very long time if you're brakeless. They're not the most comfortable though. Etnies marana x michelin are comfy and pretty solid, but the sole doesn't last too long if you're using it as a brake

I was considering those Etnies marana x michelin but the sole didn't look like it had good pedal traction. Hows the grip?

To answer the question, best I have worn so far are probably the Vans Crockett Pro. At the moment I have Etnies Marana Vulc mid top, they are alright, but feel super thin under my foot after being used to thicker cupsole designs. I perfer a bit more cushion.

I would be surprised if you weren't satisfied with one of the Vans Pro shoes. I recommend mid top but it's partially personally preference.

yeah...I never worry(ied) about shoes either, which is why I used Chucks. It was the only shoe I wore back in my teen and pre-teen days. I just got on my bike and rode....never worried about shoes, shirt, pants...just got on and hit it!!!

I only bought the Addida's recently b/c I wanted a shoe that I could wear to work that looked sort of cool, but were comfortable, and can't wear Chucks to work. I still wear Chucks as my main shoes now...and many of my Chucks are still the ones I had back in the 80's...they have never made my feet hurt, but I have also always ice skated, and that develops your foot muscles a bit more...I am assuming that is why I don't feel the fatigue others do with Chucks

Yeah, I still wear Chucks too. They are my main show as well. I remember my first pair of Van's & I'm quite certain it was like anything else, I was drawn in that they were "better" because the pros wore them. In the end, there may be "better" shoes for different activities, including BMX. But this I can say for certain, no shoe will ever make you a better rider.

This is so true-it's because skate shoe companies are like "We will give you a colorway of our current shoes" and that's about it.

People want slim shoes. I want Adio and shoes like that to come back.

Buying shoes SUUUUCKS nowadays. Most don't have decent arch support, are too narrow, and thin, and the heel cup is TOO SHORT, so they slip off or don't stay on well or just wear out super fast from putting them on (looking at you Etnies Brake Shoe).
