Neither.

Get a VX if you like low quality video with an unreliable camera.

Get a T2i if you like high quality video that's easy to work with.

I would recommend moving to a DSLR. Canon or Nikon, doesn't really matter. Ive had lots of experience with all types of cameras, and I think DSLR's are really starting to build a lot of potential. Theres just so many things that you can do with DSLR that you cant with other cameras.

If I had to choose one from what you listed, from my experience I would choose the Sony. Its almost $400 bucks cheaper, and the resolution is advertised at 4k, vs the Canon's 1080p. Its also much more durable, and compact than the Canon. Making it a bit better for filming street. That being said, the Sony is much like a gopro; very minimal in terms of features, while you have a bit more options with the Canon. Neither are great options, but that's my opinion on it anyway.

Wrong.
Me and the other 2Hi filmer have been filming with a vx2100 and me with an older outdated TRV-950 that I sold on here in the for sale section. The result I'd you guys say you liked the videos and we got most of our videos up on the vital and TCU homepages. VX's are still good cameras and cheap to fix IF they go wrong(ours hasn't). Plus I got three pros/filmers get wet over my old TRV, they said it was their first pro cameras and it was a good one to own.

Vx are less unreliable than people think, the only people who break them are retards who switch tape brands and reuse tapes
edit: also dslrs, although they seem cheap, are expensive as hell when you start adding it all up
lets assume:
250$ for a camera body
$250 for a fisheye
$150+ for a mic
$100 for a cheap metal handle
$500+ for a midrange zoom lens (Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC ), the kit lens is unusable because of its variable aperature
altogether that is $1250 without taking into consideration any batteries, cards, or bags
