So was riding my local dirt/race track today and landed fuck handed and went got thrown about ten feet along the gravel and now have a deep gash in my knee, loads of cuts and bruises and possibly a broken wrist (waiting on xray results) LOL

So that brings me to the question what's your worst bmx injury and what caused it?

Nice, bet that hurt? Ain't collar bones meant to be a nasty one to break?

I dumped it on a downside foot plant around 6 feet up and landed on my head/shoulder. Tore all but one ligament in my shoulder, trashed pretty much everything else in there, concussion, and I found out around 8 years later that I actually fractured 3 vertebrae in that crash as well.

That or when I was riding a few years back I threw my back out and it took me 45 minutes to get up and to my car, as the pain was unbearable, and made my legs give out. That one turns out to be repeated abuse over the years causing the lowest disc to be about 1/3 the thickness it should be, resulting in pinched nerves that control my legs. I have since thrown out my back the same way. SUCKED. Takes around 3-4 days to be able to walk decently, and around 2-3 weeks for me to be comfortable bending down to pick something up off the ground.

Collar bones are the easiest to break (8 ft lbs or something like that).

I mean how awkward they are after you brake them, my friend broke hers and ever since if she moves her arm a certain way it pops out and goes all weird and shit haha

Geez, hopefully I don't do anything like that in future especially as my local skate park is a 2mile walk haha. Similar to what a mate of mine did, but he was about 8ft up. Still cause you problems? Or on meds to help manage it?

My back is still pretty trashed, but exercising is helping. My shoulder too.

No meds for this guy, I only took advil at the time of each. I hate taking meds.

Yea, helmets are defo good, keep meaning yo buy one but never get round to it, same with knee pads. Fed up with pulling gravel and dirt out of my knee haha. Man, that's a very close call, they operate or just monitor it? Cant imagine the pain of slipping/dislocating a disk, must hurt a ton

My list of injuries, in chronological order:

-Both knees scraped, with blood sticking to the bandage (thus, to remove the bandage you had to reopen the wound). That was when I was like 5 (first time on a bike).

-Then, I totally crushed the ligaments in my right ring finger. It doesn't articulate as well as the others and has a slight nagging pain in cold climates (thankfully I live in a tropical country, my Christmas French trip to the relatives f*cked the sh*t out of it).

-Broke the toe next to the pinky on the left foot.

-Broke my right wrist (I couldn't write but still had to go to school, damn!). One of the cartilage things slipped out of it's zone, got blocked for a moment in a certain position (felt super weird that, no pain with the adrenaline, but still....), and chipped a bit out of it. I went back on the bike a mere two weeks after putting the brace.

-Got my sins attacked by my pedals really badly until I got myself some shin pads.

That's all really. I hope I don't get more despite my will to get better. My parents don't like the fact that I BMX too much, they are turning a blind eye on this BMX thing... I hope i don't break something or fuck up my back... I still want to be an aerobatic pilot....

It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.

Smashed my face twice in 2 month span resulting in stitches across the bridge of my nose both times, it fucked up the cartilage of my right nostril so I have a hard time breathing through it.

Fell from about 5 foot straight to my side and 30 minutes after crash I went to piss, had to strain really hard to push out a few nasty looking blood clots then rest of my urine looked like straight blood. It was horrifying, I freaked out and rushed to the ER. Ended staying in the hospital for 3 days due a severely bruised kidney, was told I was lucky as I was close to actually splitting it open and bleeding internally. Could of died before I even had to piss.

Toss up between tearing my ACL in October 2009 or herniating a disc in my lower back sometime early last Summer (2014)

Torn ACL happened right after school. We always rode our bikes to school and when we got out that day it was starting to rain a little so the roads were wet, I did a bunnyhop x-up off a curb cut going fairly fast... No problems there. But then I tried gapping from a line in the road to another line, probably like 5 or 6 feet long so I hopped as high as I could but my feet slipped off the pedals and I was going to just land on my feet but I guess since the road was wet, my right foot slipped and bent my knee 90° & slammed the ground like that too... Adrenaline was rushing so I somehow managed to get back to my bike & ride off, then the pain set in so I had to get picked up and taken to the hospital. They did like 1 x-ray and didn't even consider the possibility that something could be torn, and told me I should be good by Monday (It was currently Friday) well come Monday I'm still in pain and can barely walk, got scheduled for an MRI and confirmed it but since I'm a dumbass I didn't get surgery yet cause I didn't think I absolutely needed it cause a dipshit doctor mislead me into thinking it could be strengthened and supported with a brace and surgery wasn't a priority really... Well, a month later I was trying a manual to feeble 180 line and the one time I did the 180 out I planted my leg weird and it popped again, felt like I tore it all over again. It fucking hurt so bad I could hear and feel the bone grinding as I fell to the ground. Finally scheduled surgery, early December at a different hospital who did a great job, did rehab for it and all that good stuff, anddd nowadays I'm perfectly fine, minus the scar on my leg that is still really tender. Hurts like hell if I hit it. Also pretty cautious if I ever have to plant my right leg for anything out of habit.

Back problem happened starting sometime in June 2014... Not sure exactly what did it for sure, could be a number of things but I still have no 100% confirmed reason why it happened. I'm dumb and let it get bad to the point where I couldn't even walk or lay down without pain. Got small dosage steroids for it which helped a lot and allowed me to ride again for about a week when it all went downhill again. Got an MRI, confirmed it was a disc herniation, and got a steroid injection shot right into the nerve. Calmed it down almost instantly but I still had a while to go before I was able to ride again. Took about 2 weeks, but I was then able to cruise around with very little pain, and as the weeks went on I slowly eased back into it with minimal pain. At this point I wasn't stretching or doing any core strengthening exercises, so after awhile it started hurting like hell again. I was maybe back to 60% of my riding skill at the time. Got another shot for it which did the trick, went for like 2 months without pain then it started up again and the doctor prescribed me those low dosage steroids again and told me I should be stretching and strengthening my core (He told me that before, but I honestly didn't think it would do much to stretch my hamstrings.. Boy was I wrong, that shit worked wonders!) so I took the steroids, did stretching and strengthening, and I do that every other night now and I can ride all day without feeling it now.

That's not to say it isn't there anymore, it never fully heals or goes away but it is definitely manageable. I feel it more when I'm not riding actually haha

Probably fucking up my foot real bad.

I have been incredibly lucky in some of my injuries. I didn't break my foot on a roof drop but i basically slipped pedal and the pedal gave me a real nasty cut in the shin. Weird thing is, the cut was deep as all fuck, but it didn't even hurt at all. Which was weird, but I basically flattened my foot. It collapsed. Like that joint that forms the arch got too much on it, I partially blame the shoes, they had like no padding or stiffness and I doubt it woulda been as bad with better shoes.

It hurt like fuck but i rolled away and didn't go to the hospital really until it was healed. i couldn't ride for a month last summer which sucked some serious ass. I still managed to cut grass and do stuff but it was a bitch. I didn't feel like it was truly healed until probably March this year. It sucks hurting your feet, plus i started a job that deals with a lot of standing which was awful for the stupid injury. I now really hate ibuprofen too lol. Now I have a weird fucked up foot. Its got a bulge because basically the ligaments and muscles all in the foot got bigger.

Now i have to have really comfy shoes or else i wanna die. And a neat scar to remind me not to ride in shorts and always have nice pedals that won't dissect me.

Haha, sounds pretty weird and nasty. I did something similar once, there was some kids starting on me and some friends on the other side of a 10ft fence and me being me I snapped and climbed the fence which they legged it haha so I just jumped back down and landed awkwardly and snapped one of the large bones in my foot clean in half. Hospital didn't think I broke it cos I was walking normally etc then x-rayed it and it was a clean brake, I kept walking with the cast on though and its never healed properly, locks up of I move my toes in a certain way and can get quite painful after riding for a while haha. How is your foot doing now?? smile

I've never broken anything actually. Maybe unofficially a thumb from trying bars but I don't get hurt much . My recent one was a feeble but I missed my peg and put my leg out and the corner of the ledge sliced my leg open. It was fine at first but it got worse and now it looks like I had surgery . My flesh was popping out haha . Picture doesn't do justice but like I mentioned I'm pretty nimble . Also , I got hit by a Van , that was a fun experience . Photo

Haha, my knee is like that at the moment, just letting it air out instead of dressing it. Bet you'd hate England with that finger then haha. Where I live this winter some days didn't reach above 0°c anr we had abit of snow haha. I haven't broke my wrist the consultant has confirmed its not broken. Got a cool splint thing though, stopped wearing that after it stopped hurting so much haha. I hate cutting up my shins, getting trail mixes on Tuesday so hopefully no more pedal slipping! smile aerobatic pilot ehh? Sounds awesome. I plan to study to become a doctor or virologist just gotta retake my maths, I couldn't be fucked with school and its bit me on they arse haha

Nice man, breaking things isn't as bad as people make it out to be, I've broke a few things. Quite fun getting looked after by the nurses haha. I can only dream of doing tricks like that at the moment, only got out on my bike 10 times so far, had it for over a year but been in tempary accommodation and moving into my flat and having a kid. So don't get to ride much but have learned to hop and love riding dirt, get quite good air smile learning foot jam tailwhips too. That cut looks badass though sounds like you need to blast it with clean water and get it stitched up haha

If i keep after it and wear good insoles in my shoes it does't get me too badly. The only thing that worries me is if it messes up again it may be much easier to injure. So before doing anything big I have to really be sure i won't blow off the bike.

It mainly sucks when i work for a long time just standing. Oh or running. I use to run or jog for a few miles here and there and now It's really shitty, i can still do it, it's just harder.

Can't play basketball anymore really because any quick pivot kinda jars it. But it's not awful I just don't enjoy it as much as I used to.

Basically nothing bad during riding, like i said, good shoes, no problems, but shitty ones and I'm sore in 30 minutes.

Maybe we gotta go with stretches.

Have started some yesterday and this morning. Took a friggin long time but I hope it will be worth it.

Who stretches? Who has some stretches to recommend? Some muscle massage techniques?

Read about twitch and slow muscles too...

I had to seat a a ten step to flat... I just took off all fucked, started to nose dive threw my ass down on the seat to level myself out, feet were off the pedals. The doctor described what i did to a disc in my lower back like hitting a jelly doughnut with a sledge hammer. But I landed that shit.

I broke my ankle about 2 years ago, ended up getting two screws put in it, was out for a couple months which was the hardest part

then a little less than ayear ago I broke the same ankle and foot again, didn't need surgery but was out for 6 weeks

now about a week ago I fell and landed right on my shoulder and broke my collar bone, and it got so far displaced I needed a plate and a few screws in my shoulder now, and ill be out for like a month
