I'm curious as to see what part you all think makes the biggest difference on your bike?
I know some people that don't even care about their geometry of their frame, but care so much about other things.

Anyways, which part on your bike do you feel makes the biggest difference to you and why?

Pedals because I adjust my feet tons while riding so i like them to be somewhat gripy but they cant just lock my feet down

I'd say grips. Gotta be able to get a good grip.

bars and frame, but I'have to say that the frame makes the biggest difference!

But I like my bars big, short chain stay, long toptupe and low bb height like 11.5-11.65. :D

4/19/2012 5:21 PM

gear ratios lol, so sprocket and/or cassette

I've been forced to ride 25/14 gearing... fuckin sucks haha

frames make a big difference for me

I jumped from 8.1s to 8.66s for my bars, then down to 8.25s, havn't felt much of a differnce at al

|

4/19/2012 5:21 PM

tires.

|

4/19/2012 5:26 PM

id say tires. if i dont like the grip 100% i wont touch my bike. i just eat a ton of shit. then i must have square crank arms. the flex is different than tubular. idk its weird

Pedals: if im on plastic ones i feel like i have no grip at all
Bars: like my bars to be a bit more forward then in line with the forks
Frame: gotta have a nice short frame

|

4/19/2012 6:19 PM

cranks, less flex in them, along with the drive train you have going for you. i like to haul ass, and shit, so i run 28 9, also engagement on a hub can make some difference, say going from a stock hub, to a primo mix, which has tons of solid, and good feeling engagement. freshly built/trued/tightened wheels make such a difference to me, my riding feels less sketchy, and i can worry less. also, bars make a difference to me, along with a frame, both make a pretty decent sized difference in my riding. over all, i think having a dialed bike is the biggesrt diffence. makes your riding feel 100x better than any new part will.

love you mom. rest in peace.

Def. the bars and frame, taller the bars and shorter the rear end on frame, the easier it is to bunnyhop.
so the easier it is to get higher. the steeper the head tube angle the easier to get over the bars and do nose manuals!!!
the shorter the frame also makes it easier to spin... but i recommend that if you are over 5'5 or 5'6 don't go shorter than 20.75 tt

4/19/2012 6:32 PM

I'm ridiculously picky about what angle my bars are at. They have to be just right or else I can't do anything, it's all in my head but it still bugs the crap out of me.

4/19/2012 6:37 PM

my chain has to be tight, tires pumped at about 90 or 80 psi, and pedals have to be grippy

bearings haha if it doesnt roll fast then I'll go surgeon on that shit. and i always have my bars perpendicular to the ground for a little extra knee room, and i think it feels better that way.

This too! Besides the high psi tires. Plus i crank the pins down on my JCPC's so they don't move at all.

Got to be comfortable while you sit on your bike whole day at the park criticizing other people's setup!!!
jk...

I'd say frame and bar height.

i always wondered why people buy $600 wheel sets. you'll ride the same with a $300 wheel set.

frame and bars
stem and tires somewhat

Frame and Bars. I like a frame with a shorter backend and around 8.75 bars. But im kind of obsessive about having my bike dialed. It has to sound like a basketball when it hits the ground. Rattling and a loose chain bothers the shit out of me haha.

I have nothing against pegs at all, I don’t think you’re dumb if you ride pegs, I don’t care about your pegs, they are just pegs! What I do hate is the fact that every person in BMX hops on this bandwagon of three pegs, and beanies, and weed, and hop-over grinds… It’s just sad that the pros who influence kids are more worried about looking cool than the kids themselves! It’s crazy!-Trey Jones

4/19/2012 7:22 PM

i deff think grips... i have sweaty hands cuz of the humidity (not as bad as some places but still pretty bad) and if i have shitty grrips that my hands slip on them i cant ride... and my bike has to be noise free... not really a part but like if my bb creaks ill spend all doy taking it apart and fixing it...

Your psi and bar angle
50-60 psi and bars forward some more is a great setup and flexible.

I'm most particular about my bars I like them at a perfect 90 angle from the ground and they have to be aligned with the front tire.if my bars are off it drives me.crazy
