My worst was my rear hub completely exploded right before a quarter I jumped and when I landed my cranks seized up and I crashed for some reason. I still cant recall exactly how I crashed but it ruined my day...

I don't know if you'd call this catastrophic but my luck definitely was catastrophic. Last week my tube leaked out though the valve stem and was completely flat, so I changed tubes and when riding down the street the bead gave out or something and my tube/tire exploded mind you I didn't over inflate because I like my tires to feel squishy. So I finally put another tube on it yesterday and THAT TUBE HAD A HOLE. Good thing the last tube from that 4 pack didn't give too or that would've been it until I can buy more tubes. Luckily it's holding fine with no issue. Here's a pic of the tire Photo

I had gotten hit by a car earlier this year. I came out fine with minor injuries. My bike, did not.

Wow! Was the driver at fault or were you doing 1080's off a ledge into traffic? Lol

Broke a few frames , one in half , destroyed a few wheels, snapped one par of bars , most recent I underrotated a flip and crashed into the concrete so hard my headset exploded into a bunch of little pieces and my demolition rotator internals exploded

I tried to do a 15 foot bank to bank gap at my skate park. When I was in the air my bars went into my lap and I landed sitting on my back wheel. Snapped my forks and scratched my brand new stem.Photo

What kind of forks were they?

They were from a high end 2016 kink complete bike.

I was pedaling as hard as I could at a 6 foot tall roll in that we boosted as a flyout, chain snapped and I went OTB like a sack of bricks head first into the roll in at full speed.

I was done that day.

Also snapped cranks, tried to hop a whip and broke 14 spokes at once on two separate occasions, blown up headsets a few times too.

Never had anything that crazy... but some of you might remember the time I posted about my bars moving forward 90 degrees after landing flat from 10 feet in the air. They were a pair of shitty stock fit bars, absolutely crushed on the knurling. Put me out of riding for a month and a half. Crazy stuff.

Worst bmx crashes I had from broken parts was back in the late 70s early 80s. Back then pedals, necks and seatpost, use to break all the time. Pretty much, eating shit was a weekly event back then.

Heck back then there were very few companies that made the best parts and some of those parts were not very body friendly. Mongoose Gooseneck was a nice part till your body got impaled on it. Hutch Bear traps were the best pedals out there til they found one's shins. I have lost chunks of bone and skin to those suckers.

Thats the worst when that happens. My friend made the mistake of trusting the bike shop to tighten his bars down when he bought his bike. Same thing lol

He wasnt going as big though.

Were they chromoloy and heat treated by chance? Did you ever contact them? Im sure that they would do something for you considering its only a year old and its from one of their more top end bikes.

I think I've been pretty lucky with the catastrophic failures... Never really broken something that caused me to die or had several things break at once. Besides spokes anyway... Before I learned tailwhips I was trying them hop and slammed my wheel into the ground breaking out like 7 in one spot.

Other than that worst I did was snapped half the flange off my hub shell, snapped a piece of my stem, or snapped my rear axle while grinding... All of which I somehow didn't eat shit doing luckily

|

I've snapped bars, stems, forks, axles, frames, cranks, pedals, sprockets, gyros, cables, brakes, levers, seats, seat posts, wheels and pegs. It happens.

None of it matters when you are actually riding the bike.

Last night I snapped my forks on a 180 to smith with the back wheel going over the ledge first. Went face first into the front tire and bit off some of my lip. I usually snap one set of forks each year. Luckily that's the worst of any of them.

That frame is definitely a wall hanger! Im sure youd much rather not have had that happen but it is a cool convo starter!

I've never really had parts fail on me apart from a snapped chain. And ruining hubs doing grinds back in the day. I used to eat shit a lot when I was younger because I was bad though. Trying to keep up with friends that were better than me, and it was usually from being too scared to go fast enough to clear doubles. I'm pretty happy I don't ride trails anymore!

It looks like you might have rolled away from that one. Or is it just a perfectly timed photo and you ate shit like a millisecond afterwards? Lol

This wasn't a bike failure but my friend had a little sketchy wooden kicker made from peg board. Went at it full speed it caved in and I went straight over the bars. Only scratched my elbow a little bit somehow.
