Why is proper so underrated? Their products look REALLY nice. There is all this hype over porn hubs, but these come in 48h too http://www.properbikeco.com/product/

Proper is underrated because they are a catalog company

They literally are the epitome of a catalog company. Almost every hub they 'make' along with their rims are straight of a pre designed catalog. That's lame. I did have a proper ttl frame once and it was real nice until it cracked on the top tube

This. Proper parts are pretty common here.

Whoever said they're catalog parts is very wrong. They have some pretty innovative parts, such as their socket drive sprocket (Odyssey idea I know, but it's still not a generic catalog product). I will say though a lot of their stuff like the rims and whatever the cheaper hubs are called (not the K7s) aren't on par with most aftermarket stuff (e.g. Odyssey rims/hubs etc.) but they're a bit cheaper and they're definitely not catalog parts.

I had a Proper rim laced up, was learning flips into foam and threw my bike so I didn't dump it too badly, my bike hit the top of the kicker into the foam, and bent the wheel over about 2 inches. Not a single spoke broke, but the rim is permanently done. When I set it on a flat surface, one end is flat on the surface, the other is a couple inches up from it.

Before that happened (and it would have toasted any rim out there) it was a solid rim without a need to true it.

Honeslty a cookie cutter brand with hubs is ANYONE who uses the JOYTECH platform. I can think of at least one bigger brand that uses a lot of the JOYTECH platform for parts with some different shells. It would get me some hate if I state their name on here, as they tend to be someone liked.

So I won't.

Theyre underrated because their parts are harder to get and because theres so many other better companies to buy from

Looking through their catalog, theyre just as much of a catalog company as Primo, Shadow, United, etc. In no means are they really innovative, but theyre doing a good job producing parts that satisfy what riders want nowadays.
I see they have officially released the BSH2 frame which has 75.25hta, 69sta, and a 13.25" cs. Finally another super tech frame on the market to widen the variety, something few companies have done (alot of them are beginning to now though.)
Their rear hub also isn't a Joytech hub. If you look at the specs, its not far from one, but it does have its own innovations. It looks far superior to the Animal Javelin which seems to be a favorite amongst alot of people.
Even the most popular brand in the game, Odyssey, only provided a generic Joytech hub as their cassette option for YEARS. That didnt make them any more of a catalog company, nor did it stop people from buying every other part they made.
