What's up VitalBMX Family!

We just created a Vital profile in hopes of expanding our reach and enabling more interactions with our supporters! We're back in 2015 with a new image for a new beginning! Our frames still have our signature squared-back ends and are built to last.

However, one change that we are adamant about is the quality and caliber of riders that we are supporting now, both on and off the bike. We've got a new crew and our outlook is positive for the future! Thanks for the love and continued support.

Check our some of our recent updates by checking out our website, blog, and social media outlets.

Uniqueness is awesome and we aspire to keep and support it daily! One thing that makes us happy, is when people on our frames tell us how many people stop them to admire the the square back end and ask them what frame it is. Never following trends and forging our own path!

We won't speak badly of another brand, but we have a few team riders that have been on the prototype samples of the new Bulldog fork for a while with no issues. We are pumped on this product. It's been tested by team riders that range from super smooth Elite racers, to burly street drop riders, and everything in between!

I was gonna get a bulldog frame a while back but the deal fell through and I didnt get it. Glad to see you guys back with the frame now I just need to buy one.

|

I hope you guys make a sick new technical frame. Or just Street oriented with that sick square backend. Probably feels super solid and is good against dents. I think a dent proof downtube would be sick too if that's possible.

Currently our only freestyle frame is the time tested Bulldog Illmatic. The Illmatic has very middle of the road geometry for any terrain you decide to ride. We are working with our product developers and team on creating some new specific terrain frames for 2016. So whether you want a fast spinning and nose manualing frame, or a laid back trail roaster you'll be set with Bulldog for life. Thanks for the reply! BDG 4 LIFE!

Your website is terrible, the shitty music won't let it load anything.

A round tube is equally stiff and strong in all directions. A square tube excels when loaded against the flat faces (not in the diamond direction). Round tube is better for torsion as well.

I disagree that the illmatic frame is "very middle of the road geometry," if you are referring to the frame on your site that has a 74.5 degree headtube and a 14.25" chainstay. that might have been "very middle of the road geometry" a number of years ago but currently I would say a 75 degree headtube and somewhere around 13.5" chainstay is middle of the road geometry. That's just my opinion though.

My 2002 T-1 has the same geometry and trust me that thing isnt made to spin fast or manual easily, much more suited for huge riders wanting to go big and fast at everything.

I'm sorry you're having issues with the site. Perhaps try it on mobile or a different browser such as Chrome or Firefox, we get a lot of traffic through the site on desktop as well and we haven't heard any issues with it yet. I personally use Firefox to update the blog. Thanks for the heads up.

Ticaleb,

Sorry for the confusion, the batch you're referring to is product from last year and a very limited USA made batch primarily for Bulldog collectors. The 2015 Illmatics are 13.5" CS slammed (13.75 centered) and the headtube is 75 degrees with a 21" top tube. Hope that helps!

During our early testing and throughout the years the rear end of our frames have never twisted. We currently have some unbelievably talented product testers on the team and they are very happy with our end result. It's been through massive quarter airs and massive drops in the streets in the process of creating this frame.

The product development has progressed since our inception in 1998, and we've updated and revised our 2015 Illmatics. Without going into too much detail, our biggest issues were updated elsewhere on the bike as well as updating frame geometry. Thanks for the response! I know that didn't really respond well to your post, but we are confident in our testing!

These guys have been around for years, and honestly, they weren't common aside from reasonably locally in NY. I can count on one hand how many I have ever seen in person. Zero.

Not saying you guys have inferior products, just not a lot of national level support from consumers (at least from my perspective). Part of the reason I never purchased one was that I never saw anyone with one, and never saw any reviews or anyone saying anything about the brand.

Perhaps making a solid edit or video with your testers riding could gain some notoriety? It seems no matter the brand, a killer edit will get a ton of press and even gain some supporters, which could do a lot for business and sales.

Just my two cents.

My take on BDG bikes is that they have a good idea, a good bike, but not a good distro set up...

Me, what I think, is that BDG bikes should just send demo frames to all the mags and ask for a review (like, rather, "I give you bike you give me article").

At least they dare to be different. It's a breeze to see a sheep going another way. If they offer a good dirt jump frame, when mine breaks, I'll get a BDG right away. Not only because of all the hype on the square tubing, but because I shall feel that it's well spent money helping some dudes out... It's cauz this company is going against Haro, WeThePeople, S&M, United, Subrosa, Fit... Will this be a David and Goliath story? Only if they hit the rock in the right place...

And by that they would have to seriously innovate... Super light and great handling frames, go full on into the details, and try what others haven't tried... For example, instead of making a 11.5 BB height, go for something like 11.4999999. I mean, if you get the drift...

A suggestion? What about using Docol? It's a metal developed by some Swedish company, imported into the states. Same properties as 4130, except one important one: it does not get brittle in welded zones and there is no need to use a lot of elbow grease in prepping the welded places. Price might be higher than 4130, but that is easily discarded by no need for any extensive heat treating...

Hope they get to expand/develop. I mean, if we were the top bosses at BDG BIkes, we sure would want to not fail in life, right?

Oh, and please get real good riders. By that I mean those who don't cuss, those who don't talk trash, those who are respectful of everything that crosses their path, those who follow your vision of being seriously different. If there is one guy who picks a fight for not having the right to grind a rail, I'm hitting the "unsubscribe" button right away...

Cheers! BDG Bikes, I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you for the reply Dave. We definitely see our weaknesses within our media exposure and it's an issue that we're working. One of our major priorities currently isn't necessarily mass production, but to get in the forums and threads and talk to people about the brand. This is our best solution to keeping true to our grassroots elements and picking out the next Brad Simms, Mike Brennan, Colton Satterfield, or Chris Hughes (all Bulldog Alumni). We're not taking credit for their level of success because that was done through their hard work while also being ambassadors for our brand.

We're hoping to attract those that are interested in what we've got going on one at a time. Although our following is just sparking back up through our 2015 projects, it makes each product sale a personal connection between Bulldog Bikes and those that love the product.

In regards to the videos that you have mentioned above, we've released quite a few videos this year. We've had some awesome things happen this year with videos of our riders and product. Please take a moment to check out our Official YouTube Channel and the channel of one of our favorite NC based videographers and Bulldog contributors, Daniel Wood.

Thanks again for the reply.

Thank you for the information and I'll forward some of the ideas up to our product guys.

In regards to the team, that was and is one of our main focuses with reinvigorating the brand. The current team that we have is a little less common place than our previous team riders while still keeping true to our founding ideas. We have a good group of men and women representing the brand in a positive and forward thinking light.

On a side note, the Illmatic is a lovely trail frame... at least half of our team is passionately involved in local trail scenes and that one of their favorite terrains to ride. Although there's usually not too much exposure from it, we've been hitting trail jams pretty frequently in the past year or so.

Thanks for the reply and your kind wishes.

One from a our Race Team Captain, Roy Washington, riding his local trails and a trail jam on his freestyle set up.

As we've stated earlier, our focus for reinvigorating the brand is to keep positive company and attract those that are positive riders. This has come from lessons that we've learned as a company and as a BMX Family.

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow isn't promised to any man, and today is the only day we can do anything about.

Thank you for your feedback.
