He's probably a homie but I've seen some more heat than that in more chill edits . Still the riding isn't super easy though . Each his own .

I'm pretty sure my spare insta edit had more tech shit though , no hate

I think people are forgetting it's not always what you can do, it's who you know. Maybe the dudes at Merritt like him a lot and want to hook him up. Also, it's hard to say how good he really could be just from a short edit like that, maybe he can do a lot of other tricks.

Most of my edits don't include half the shit I can do, rather what I like to do instead. Probably the same boat with this guy. Then again, I don't know him so I can't say for sure. I was not a fan of the editing style though.

True. I just think that if you're a sponsored rider, you have to be able to rip it up. This edit was just a bunch of little tiny jibs. I hope he's better than what he shows in this edit. Maybe it's the arrogant 15 year old in me speaking, but if this is an actual "Welcome to the pro team" thing and this is as good as his riding gets, I think it's a step backwards for the whole idea if a "sponsored rider". Getting sponsored is probably 90% person, 10% riding, which is why you have guys killing it but never getting sponsored, but you should be a good rider in a sense. I liked the video and the riding though.

Being sponsored doesn't sound that fun to me , risking life and limb for not much cash , you gotta take ridiculous risks to make a decent living

gotta agree with you, i'd rather be sitting in a nice soft office chair on a computer designing a hub or something, and riding for fun on my lunch break

You guys do realize that most of these "Pro Team" riders have full time jobs on top of riding, right? Not every pro makes bank. This guy probably gets some free shirts and a few parts. I'd bet he isn't getting a paycheck from them. Maybe he is really really underprivileged, and this is what he has been doing to get away from that? You don't know the guys story.

If you guys don't like it, ride harder and get yourself a sponsor.

There is a lot of being at the right place at the right time, and who you know in this industry. Get your name out there. Don't be a whiny brat, don't be a huge douche, and you can go places. Honestly the "I'm better than this guy why is he sponsored and I'm not" attitude just makes you guys look like a bunch of jealous kids. Act like adults and be proud the dude got hooked up.

If anything, this should show you that it is not all insane skill that gets you noticed. Maybe he works for Merritt and rides with the guys, so they put this edit out as a welcome to the job? You don't know because it doesn't say.

Totally agree. I can't think of a single person becoming sponsored who criticized another rider on a bmx forum for becoming sponsored. I think that dude has some pretty tech jibs going on in that edit. Sponsorship isn't always about being a competitor like Mad Dog. Some "sponsored" riders are more like sales persons.

I see that now. I just thought that while in addition to being a homie/employee, you had to be really good.

I hear ya on that one. I thought the same growing up, and realized there is a LOT more to it than just being a ripper. The company is not corporate owned, so they can do whatever they feel is good for them, and sponsoring this dude who does a lot of grind tech is how they want to rep themselves.

I say good for this dude! Good for BMX too! Proving being a stuntman on a bike is not necessary to have a company back you.

i personally liked the edit. i like all the little bump jump pole jam things. its low and slow but it requires a lot of bike control and accuracy. definitely not some nitro circus stuff. i also like charlie's editing (i'm assuming he edited the video).
