So X-Games is this weekend and I started a reddit discussion here. I think the X-Games has a very interesting relationship with BMX and I'm always curious to know what other people think about it.
Park last year seemed to be set up right from the beginning for Chase Hawk to take the win but this year the course seems to be much better designed to suit both style and trick influenced riders.
The dirt course doesn't look overly special but there's a good lineup of riders so I think it'll still be interesting to watch. I'm predicting that Kyle Baldock is going to get the three-peat pretty easily.
As for Vert, does anyone else actually enjoy watching it? Personally I'm fascinated by it because it has a bit of a story behind it. Jamie Bestwick is a true athlete and deserves to be on the top of the podium every year. This year he'll be going for his tenth consecutive gold medal and while he has been pretty unstoppable in the past, last year showed to me that he's feeling the pressure a little bit. It's pretty well known that Jamie Bestwick has a number of ridiculous tricks that he never does in contests because he doesn't need them to win and until last year the front flair was one of these tricks. He's going to want that 10-peat more than anything, so if everyone else rides well enough, I think that there's a chance he might drop a double flair (which I've heard he has on lock WTF)
Megaramp is just blech. It is helpful in getting little kids to think bmx is cool but it's just such a poor representation of what bmx is actually about.
