I have the chance to buy a cult bad boy profile cranks and a showdow wheelset for 225. But... there are some orange spray paint all over the bike. Is it worth buying and sanding it allcdown and painting it ? The part that worries me is I have to paint the wheel which means unlacing it the painting it and relacing and truing it but I've never done that so ....Photo

- a shop would charge about 25 a wheel to relace?

- enough strip solvent would be 15 on the high end (unless you go with orange solv, more $$$)

- paint will prolly be 15 for rattle can... that is if you don't primer

looking at about 70 to reclaim color. if you can't do the wheels yourself. Dishing wheels is a lost art IMHO

Someone else should chime in about Shadow's value since it is before my time

^the cranks are kinda legit... sorry bro, someone else needs to post about the wheels

my gut tells me you would be better at 2 ben franks. See if they'll cut 25 off the asking price?

the cult is chromo for both versions, meh

just keep the strip away from the bearings, black is easy to blend to the black around the hubs if you get it super clean

aka, leave a few inches of the original black around the hubs/1st few inches of spokes & rattle can the rest after a good cleaning

lol, I thought you were trying to get rid of the blue. honestly, it sounds like you got a better idea of what to do then most

just keep solvents away from the hubs unless you gut the drive/bearings

if it were me... I would consider the BB on the cranks - was the seller a ripper (thrash with huge airs on concrete)

can you put eyeballs on the frame to make sure there is zero flaws (cracks, weld pitting)

at 200, prolly not bad... again, someone else needs to offer about the wheels though. I don't know shit about shadow

Dude, just take your time and use my method. It's totally better in the long run rather than doing those ghetto paintjobs.

i know enough about shadow i had some parts on my last build and i haven't been able to see it IRL it was of a craigslist post. i have no problem putting in the work to restore it just the rear wheel makes me nervous. the way i see it if i don't like it i could sell the stuff for more then i got it for after i paint it and all that. but i really appropriate the advice if i do buy it ill get it Saturday and probably spend that whole day sanding and re painting the frame then sunday il mask off the wheel and just repray the hoop and spokes. The cranks are easy should only take 10 mins to strip and get ready for paint. ill paint and let it dry overnight and BAM. I'll have a fresh bike. ill keep you updated step by step if you want

There's a few vids on YouTube that show how to lace wheels I used to think it was hard to till I got my hands on some crappy marrico stock hub to exparament with I ended up learn how to do a 3 cross lace pattern if I was you I would try it on an old wheel that you have so you can try it so you don't fuck up the lacing on your main wheel

lacing wheels is cake and it's cheap to get them tru'd at a local lbs (which you should do with a used bike anyway) 225 for that sick frame, profile cranks which are expensive af alone and a shadow wheel set..i'd probably slap you if you didn't buy it
