i wanted to know what is the best rim tape, nipples (lol), and spokes, or does it not even matter and just get whatever you want?

Dt Swiss spokes are amazing
Gsport nipple are nice but expensive and a pain in the ass so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them
For rim tape, get whatever is thickest, I usually stick with the more rubbery stuff rather than the cloth type, but it's all personal preference

For the rim tape. I use electrical tape. Because it's cheaper. smile

Do these dt swiss spokes really live up to the hype ?

Been talking to transition_chris latly and I'm getting a wheelset built up right now at transition getting some dt swiss spokes getting cut for my wheels

I've always heard good things about dt Swiss spokes but never been super picky on spokes ....don't care to much about weight i just want strength when it comes to wheels

I ride DT Swiss spokes and I've broken less spokes with them than when I rode Sapim, Shadow or Primo spokes..

Occasionally I break 1 every month or so in the rear from grinding even though I have a hub guard due to high flanges. That doubled with landing funny sometimes is what usually causes them to finally break but that's more my sketchy riding, not the spoke's fault haha

I had an Odyssey Reloader laced to a proper rim, and flipped into a foam pit, I let go of the bike for my own safety (SUPER GHETTO FOAM PIT), and I bent the wheel 3 inches over when it hit the edge, not a single spoke broke, nor did the nipples pull through. Actually the rim was MINT, and if it wasn't perma-bent, I would still run it.
