blind free coaster

Wondering the same myself. It was so close to being released like last december and now it's basically just disappeared.

I've heard it's being held up by patent issues

Haven't heard much of it either, hopefully it's not gonna turn out like the G-Coaster.

no? my mate has the blind coaster, he bought it from alans bmx if i can renember right

well not my mate, just know someone that has it and ive seen him at corby and bmx jams

It cant be a Blind, they never hit production due to patent issues. Unless he's on the Eclat team/flow team & got one directly from them.

its my understanding there was a flaw in it and they started from scratch
the catalog at my bike shop has them and all of the parts for it

last i knew was patent issues. and all of a sudden ezra coaster shows up with same design. sounds to me like ezra fucked over eclat in a desperate attempt to save eastern from their bad rep due to part breaking. i mean ezra showed up as soon as eastern changed their distro/ mail order to vein so yeah just my 2 cents.

have you personally broke any of their parts? coz if you havent its hear say like that that got eastern their bad rep in the first place. js

i have as a matter of fact. cracked my stealth cranks. and ran a birectional hub into the dirt. and i personally know 4 or 5 people that have cracked/broken eastern parts. and im riding eastern cranks currently. the pro crank. before they went weight weenie and the stuff started breaking. and i had a reaper frame with no problems. had 2 parts that were good. and 2 that werent. not to argue or make eastern look bad. but like my earlier post stated, it seems a bit fishy. and wtp had the blind coaster idea back in 06 but dropped it for whatever reason, then eclat brought it back to life. and thn out of nowhere this ezra coaster shows up and eclat cant get the blind patented? come on, its so obvious

The Ezra Coaster has been known about for ages, there is a member on here that is a former Eastern Employee that's been running one for 4 Years. And the Ezra and Eclat are fairly different designs.

They're almost identical. They work off the same mechanism, a slack/ drive plate(clutch) that pushes up the pawls when pedaled. Éclat has lhd and the female axle option. Ezra has that spring and the cassette clutch. Those are the only differences.

I'd rather spend the extra 20 or 30 for the blind anyway. Anything post 2010 that's eastern makes me skeptical. Pre 2010 is ok though

They have been getting better lately and it also seems like they're one of the only companies with Odyssey and Fly trying to help this sport evolve.

i think it really seems like eastern is stepping their game up, obviously their reaper frame is for kind of a lighter street and park use due to its lightness. their welding is definitely a lot better too. im looking forward to what eastern has. oh and the eclat and ezra, the pawls are engaged by rails, but the rails are very different. both will work fine, but i feel the eclat coaster looks more legit and they will work similarly. the slack for the ezra is better, but there is no word on slack settings that i heard from eclat.

Oh I know. Started in 2006. I still think Ezra stole the idea from WTp and éclat

Macneils product manager talked about the Eclat coaster, I know Macneil was going to make a freecoaster but as the product manager said,"It's brillant, yah it's great. Theres no need to make one"- As seen on The Union

Most likely if a company is going to do a new innovative product they're going to have it patented, and if they don't it's free game. If somehow Ezra did "steal" the design that would mean that it wasn't patented and it would be Eclat's fault. I honestly doubt either of those companies are going to put in all that work on a product and not have it patented just so somebody could steal their design

Eastern makes perfectly fine parts. They're kinda pulling out from mail orders because they wanted to sell at shops. They didn't really go weight weenie, they went forward. They were one of the brands to start the movement in that direction. So yes, there will be some issues when parts get about twice as light in such a short period of time and people had to get the mindset that parts won't last forever anymore.

But for that freecoaster thing yeah I'm not seeing that. Don't make more out of it than it needs to be.

I bet you think the twin towers and pentagon were terrorist attacks. Lmfao. And eastern didn't start any movement. They tries to follow suit and went too far with it. Before the grim reaper they had good stuff, but after that they went downhill so damn fast.

Nope.not a nut job that runs around drilling theories into people's heads or protesting and shit. I don't think the go Ernest is behind every single thing that happens. But that crap was fishy as hell. And even though ill never be able to prove Ezra stole the idea, I'm always gonna think they did

And companies make stupid moves. Everyone cries about the remix when it came out. But I see its fine with how many people have it. And the n4fl was crap. But the v2 was fixed accordingly. Eastern didn't fix their problem, they left it.

thats exactly what i though when i read his comment

The remix is crap in comparison to the mix hub. They sacrificed longtivity of a solid hub for a shitty shemale Axle and small bearings. Yes they did the smart company move buy their hubs failing cause people to buy more but still a dick move
