Alright so I ordered the snafu astroglide detangler cables. Originally ordered the large upper cable but was having a bitch with it so took my bike and all up to my local shop. The tech said it was just short so I took my bike and all back home. Called Dans Comp and swapped out for an x-large. Got the parts in and took my bike back to my local shop. Now they are saying its too long. Wtf.

Help please!

Don't know if you need more info but.. have stock bars and lever on my kink barrier.

Since they're too long, maybe you exchange em with Dan's again? Pita, I know.

But if you get the Odyssey M2 lever it includes dual upper cables (a good value at $24 IMO). And I can assure you the 400mm length cables with fit your 8" rise bars well.

Thanks. Probably should've just done that to begin with.

The M2 cable is 400mm, the Large Snafu cable is 395mm... the XL Snafu cable is 430mm
I'm running the M2 on almost the same bike (I have a different stem and forks). I'd say that the Large Snafu cable you have should work, but IDK without seeing it all for myself.
Also, a brake cable can't really be too big... it will just bow out more instead of staying tight to your bars unless it's completely different with the detangler in there, but look at the different cable lengths people run on straight cable set ups. It sounds to me like your LBS don't know shit about setting up detanglers.
Make sure you have the cable assembled right on your lever with the Snafu upper cable. The metal plate goes between your lever and barrel adjuster... like this....
If anything, I'd say your steer tube height on those stock forks may be too short for getting the proper spacing inbetween your top plate and detangler.

Odd.

So if your original large Astroglide cable was 395mm long + 8" bars, there should've been a bit more slack in your cable than my 400mm long cables + 8.25" bars. :/

Mine's a similar Kink, too. (Gap XL)

On second thought, the different levers could be the difference. Or the different forks.

Alright, here's a pic of the x-large cable.

and you can't get rid of that slack by adjusting the barrel adjusters on the top gyro plate?

I'd return the cable and order the Odyssey M2 lever either way. The lever itself is 10 times better and the cable design has a much cleaner look. Plus it's only $12 more than the cable itself. I know it's a hassle, but so worth it in the long run!

I'm planning on getting a gyro and front brakes for my bike soon. I'm getting everything odyssey, brake and all. I hope I don't have all the issues you are having!

I know this thread is old, but to whomever ends up on this page, know that there are "fixes" to this problem. If the cable is too long, you can cut the ends off and slide Odyssey knarps on and use them or you can use the Gyro's that have the allen clamps built into the gyro. There are a couple of brands out there that have this design. Odyssey, 34R, and I believe Kink.
