there is a way to keep the paint on the rim you can get the clear rubber brake pads they will whare the paint a little but not like regular brake pads cause they wont leave a mark but odyssey quit making them so the only way you can get them is to find a bike shop that still has some our you can get the new proper brakes they come with them on it but only when you bye the brakes

this other company sells ckear brake pads but you gotta order them online.they are for trials bikes but you can use them for your bike as well.im getting a pair soon.
