I really like my Kink Desist brake. It's 7075 so it's really stiff and strong. The little pivots for the straddle cable help smooth your brake, and the cable hanger is awesome and takes away so much flex. My only complaint is they wobble a bit on my brake mounts.
I also really like my dual compound Kool Stop BMX pads. They can lock up your wheel really well but are also great if you like to tap your brakes on manuals. Only complaint is they flex a bit. I use them with Bluesix Titanium nuts, which are awesome because they are 6mm rather than the typical 5mm so it's more convenient.
This guy knows what he's talking about.
Running Desists myself, and I'm no Kink fanboy. These are amazing brakes. Light, effective and possibly the best designed straddle cable/brake arm pivot setup EVER.
And Kool Stop dual compounds have great stopping power, even in less than optimal conditions.
Dunno nothing bout no titanium or Tree cable myself. I run whatever linear cable is available at my LBS, which ATM is Kink. Before that WTP. Of those the WTP was better.
Oddy Evos are a nice second choice. Not nearly as good, but they do the job at a reasonable cost.
