i bought new koolstop bmx pads and they didnt grip my rim than well that pissed me off but i think it may be because my cable is kind of old.

yea maybe you should get a new cable cause they get old and dont have the pulling power as wen they do new

well i have a new cable uncut and it wasnt gripping idk i need to find cutters cut my cable and try again

brakes are easy dog. Just mess with them when you are not in a hurry or tired as hell. I use a "speed clamp" and cardboard spacers and just use the clamp to hold the pads to the rim, with the cardboard spacers in between the pads and rim of course. Once the clamp is in position my hands are free to pull the cable real tight before clamping it down. I also adjust my springs so that they are uh..... springy and give a nice return on the lever.
