building new wheel question

Hi I am going to be building a new wheel it will be a stolen rampage rim laced to a animal javelin hub and I was wondering how to know what spoke length to use.I have 187mm long spokes but me my friend says I need 188mm spokes will 1mm make any difference and if so how thank for any replies.

"spoke size don't really matter that much" -ggallin422, 2020. so just use 187 for like 3 of them, 204 for ehh about 12, 5mm for 17 of them, then use 188 for the last 4.






Are you talking about the front or the back? Because the rear has different sized flanges so each side's spokes will be slightly different.

bmxunion's spoke calculator says the front should be 190mm, rear should be 190 non-drive / 188 drive... that just seems a little long to me though, but maybe someone who runs them can verify

Waller bmx has it at 187 and 188 on the rear, 189.5 for the front.

if you use all 187 instead of 188, you and no one else will ever notice. cant beleive everything you read on the internet though
