Hey I have a fear of bunny hopping up good sized curbs (2-3 feet or so). Right when i am going up to a good sized curb I bail off my bike and shake my head in defeat to the fear. Other times i lift my front tire up but I freeze up and travel up the curb bumping my frame and back tire. The same goes for stair sets, even those tiny 2 stairs sad. Is there anyway to combat this i really want to get over it. Does listening to music while riding help? like does it pump you up to do your tricks? One of my friends says it helps pump him up doing his tricks (I don't listen to music while riding btw) Any advice to the noob would help like a lot i have been trying to do this for over 3 months. thank you in advance

If you can hop it just do it. You case you case just hope for the best and dont think about falling or you will not hop enough atleast to me if I think about it I pussy out but dont bail on bigger stuff just end up not hopping. Music helps me if im in the mood. Like a song that Is like the beginning of Eyes on fire by blue foundation gets me in the "big air" mindset the Zeds Dead remix is good too if youre into that kind of music. Then a fast paced hip hopish song like fuckin problems by kendrick lamar (blush ) gets me in the mindset to flow street lines and mid line throwing in something I havent done before helps. Some songs make me feel like shit when riding ie asking Alexandra I was once possibly someshit a cowboy king or whatever it is. (It just happened to come to mind I do not like aa). atiat.

Fly up at speed and try the biggest hop you can.

2-3 feet is a meter bud , thats difficult to most riders.

If its a curb , just practise....before I knew to hop I tried and bent my rim in 3 days of getting my first bmx bike sad Now its nothing.

I had a similar issue before it wasnt a curb it was hopping up on to a box. go at it full speed and mentally tell yourself you want to jump over the whole curb, (worked better in my situation, just tried to hop over the whole box.)

Something else, in my time i have found simply hopping with no goal to it, like hopping randomly no over anything and such, i found i have my lower hops, give me a box or even a limbo stick and i can nearly triple my height, so i would often misjudge curbs thinking i could hop em when id tried it would be no issue at all.

Who the fuck builds curbs that high? That can't be right!

Freestyle is the answer to everything --
a fresh way to approach a dull or a
dangerous thing.
to do a dull thing with style
is preferable to doing a dangerous thing
without it.

Your fear will go away the more u just say fuck it and go for it. I'm the same way sometimes even tho I've been riding for years. In my experience I've found that going hard and busting my ass does more for my confidence than pussying out and going home knowing that I didnt even try. If u really wanna get good at this, u gotta be ready to shed some blood. Most of ur favorite riders have taken some really bad falls and u have to be willing to do the same if u wanna reach their level. Keep riding and everything u wanna do will eventually come naturally

Make a hopometer with a string and 2 stakes. Practice that. I can hop up most things up to mid bar height. Probably not right now bc its snowing, but usually i can haha.

Start practicing by going slowly and picking up the front only then the back right after. No need to hop until you get comfortable. But until that time, just keep practicing going up the curb by picking up the front and back separately. This really helped me.

A little taller than the average street curb I think that would be a better description
