It's definitely possible but I think they're harder on a coaster.

I've also heard that it's not that great for the internals but I'm not sure how true that is.

Theres alot more resistance in a clutch and driver setup, but it can be made better with a thrust bearing behing the clutch. its quite a popular mod and the federal v3 comes with it stock.

tbh most new freecoaster come stock with the thrust bearing behind the clutch.
But yeah, crank flips are entirely possible, just gotta kick em slightly harder to make up for the extra resistance

This.

Also IF you take it apart to regrease it, put a thinner grease inside, and that will help.

If it is cold, the grease will be a tad thicker and be more sluggish.

What I do for my freecoaster to be smooth enough to do crank flips.
1. Install a thrust bearing or buy a coaster with a thrust bearing.
2. Use synthetic grease in the coaster.
3. It will always have more resistance then a cassette hub, so kick the shit out of the pedals and you can crank flip.

Good luck. I have been riding a freecoaster since 2011 and it is just something new to get used too.

honestly, I don't notice much of a difference between a cassette and my Federal V3 while doing crankflips.
