we've all been there, like you don't know how to properly do something to your bike or make a part fit so you try some ridiculous method and fail miserably haha.
for instance, I remember when I first got my first new frame, which had a mid BB & integrated headset as opposed to standard headset & american sealed, I attempted to put the standard headset in the frame.. did not work so well so I had to take it to the bike shop and found I'd need a new crankset as well.
oh then there was the time I got new forks sometime after that and knew nothing about bearing races so I never switched them out and didn't have one on the new forks, so when I tightened stuff up.. it didn't move. so I figure lube would help, didn't have any. so I went inside and got some crisco cooking grease and lubed the entire steerer tube & that was it. I don't know why I thought it would work back then haha
