we've all been there, like you don't know how to properly do something to your bike or make a part fit so you try some ridiculous method and fail miserably haha.

for instance, I remember when I first got my first new frame, which had a mid BB & integrated headset as opposed to standard headset & american sealed, I attempted to put the standard headset in the frame.. did not work so well so I had to take it to the bike shop and found I'd need a new crankset as well.

oh then there was the time I got new forks sometime after that and knew nothing about bearing races so I never switched them out and didn't have one on the new forks, so when I tightened stuff up.. it didn't move. so I figure lube would help, didn't have any. so I went inside and got some crisco cooking grease and lubed the entire steerer tube & that was it. I don't know why I thought it would work back then haha

Home-made hub guard using a pepsi can?

LOL

Well I tried to put a standard headset into a integrated frame, because I thought that I HAD to use the same headset with the forks, turns out I just ended up breaking the headset and a week later I broke my new frame (with the integrated) and had no headset for my old frame.

only thing i can think of is when i was like 13 i put my race wheels from my 20" on my Rocket (1 of 100 made) 24" cruiser race frame and i ended up bending a dropout somehow and while trying to bend it back i managed to break it...1 of 100 made, ruined...turned it into a trampoline bike after that.

Tried to fit a internal headset into a frame that uses a integrated headset, hammered the fuck out of it until the thing broke and I realised I needed a integrated headset.

I think everyone has done this at one stage in their life, tried taking the pedal off but spent 2 hours tightening the fuck out of it.

Tried to remove a bottom bracket by using a screwdriver and hitting where the side of the bearings were, complete destroyed that.

Tried to cut brand new brake cables with scissors, ended up destroying the cable.

Stripped the bolts of a brand new stem.

Bought a new stem and sanded it down the first day because i changed my mind on the colour, painted it, turned out shit.

Tried to remove a chain by snapping it, then when i put it on my bike i realised it was bent.

super glued valve caps so no one would steal them.

Plenty more stupid shit from when i started riding to now, but hey we all gotta learn somehow hahaha.

The time I bought my first pair of after market forks and didn't know about compression systems on your headset so I rode a mega loose fork pounding the headtube headset for half a year. Bought brand new profile GDHs when they came out and cross threaded the axle. and the first time I put a hubguard on a female axle and I didn't like it so I tread beating it off the axle with a screwdriver and stripped my axle, I DONT KNOW HOW! The time I first started and couldn't work on a bike because i didn't know about left pedal threads being opposite so i threw a hammer at my bike. the time i couldnt get a tire off so i used a knife and cut it off.. there's so much stuff

stupidest thing i have ever done was 2/3 years ago on an old semi sealed cassette hub which i wanted to make louder (yeah i know i went through that moment, don't judge) and so i took it a part and all the loose balls were all around the place and it took me like a week to build it back up

I only have one, but its pretty good. So I just started bmxing, and had a okay used custom complete. It had worn to shit purple eastern crowns so I ordered new ones. Took the old ones out and went to put the new ones in. I saw that they had a R and a L but I ignored it and put them in opposite because I thought they were wrong. So I put them in backwards and it wasn't very smooth so I got a wrench and tightened the shit out of them backwards. So I was impressed with myself. Rode to school next morning and they felt a weird. So I asked my friend about them and I was like maybe they're supposed to be like odyssey twisteds cause they felt all crooked and shit and weird. My friend looks at them and starts laughing and said they're backwards. We went back to my house and and took the pedals out. THERE WAS NO THRED IN THE CRANKS. ahahah, it was so bad I was laughing myself. You could slide the pedals in and out no problem. So I had to get new cranks which I was happy about because they were piece of shit 8 splines.

Anyways, don't argue with pedals.

Got drunk and had a friend try and cut the crossbar of my bars off with hedge clippers. Put a nasty dent in the bars but broke the clippers.
Forced a chain on a couple times without realizing it was on my driver. That's always fun to fix.

I've done A LOT of stupid shit to my bike.

my friend did that same thing only he forgot his whole front wheel.. ended up just going to a bike shop and buying a new one haha

Just remembered this one, I stripped a set of cranks out cause they said they were LHD/RHD compatible so I thought that meant you could flip em around and put the pedals in the same way so they're facing the correct way, did that and rode with them like that for like a week before they came loose all the time.. eventually I took them out there was no thread in the one crank arm but the other side was fine? it was weird. I always assumed it was cause they were aluminum (odyssey black widows) and they just stripped out from normal riding, never put 2 & 2 together until just last year and that was back in 07 hahaha I felt fuckin stupid
