First off.. I read the whole thing
Secondly.. There is nothing wrong with what you have said. Its not really "correcting" its more like explaining. I do understand the whole idea of it all, i know as you said its to gauge how much money the average BMXer or their parents have to spend on bike parts. In that questionnaire they asked about almost every single part of your bike & what you planned to buy & if you planned on buying a complete or building a custom. As you said its like the companies "read our minds" I know for a fact a lot of companies have at least one of their staff checking out Forums to see if people are talking about their parts &/or how they can update the parts, new colours, graphics even specs sometimes! I have been riding for 13 years, i have worked in shops & i know quite a few Pro riders (I will not name drop) I have been talking to a couple of company owners about a few different parts & i actually am hoping to get a set of pegs i have designed prototyped! The whole Sex Sells B.S Has never interested me, I am a parts nerd. I would much rather decent photos of the part with a full run down of the specs, Say Bars, Upsweep, Backsweep, Tubing specs I.E Gauge & Material, Features such as the duel radius bends & the colour options too.
I totally understand how you feel. I am as i mentioned a parts nerd, There isn't really anything i don't know about modern BMX parts! I ALWAYS do my best to help out people, be it in real life or on Forums. I know all about the specs & how things work. You can ask a few people on here, I always help, i suggest parts & explain why they should be purchased & used. I am currently helping BMXstreethops plan out his new bike & i am explaining everything to him part by part. I like to think of myself as a BMX Guru
Stay Cool Buddy.
