head tube on frame

where the head set bearings sit...the head tube has to be a perfect circle correct??

i have bought a fit frame and i just checked the headtube..if thats the correct term..haha

and its off ..heres a pic..

i measured horizontal and vertical.. its off Like 1mm............. IS THIS NORMAL???

well i measure real careful..and its a hair off..

but when i put bearing in ..i can rockk it back and forth a lil bit..

yer put the headset in and build up your bike and if its still runs bad contact fit

sounds warped, could have been from using shitty bearings in the raceway. 1mm won't be too bad but you'll go through bearings a lot faster, just get some decent sealed bearings and ride, you won't even notice it and with only a 1mm difference the bearings should still last a year or so. If it bothers you that much a machine shop could round it back out, not sure on a price, all depends on who you use.

ok...well yea the bottom part seems tight...top not as tight..well i might try it..if not ill just sell it..haha..bought it for no reason i guess..dam!!

if you wanna sell it for cheap lemme know, but honestly i'd just keep it and use it, i'm telling you that a set of sealed bearings will work just fine, 1mm isn't too bad.

well it less than 1mm is big..lol..i carefully measured it like i said..its like a hair..but enough to rock...bottom seems perfect and bearing goes in tight..

ususally one may get an ovalized head tube by running their headset too loose for a while when riding hard but theres no reason why a new frame should be like that

Never knew of these things.. I don't even check to be honest. All the bikes I've put together had the bearings sit flush and work fine.
