how do you do them with a 28 pound bike and you have problems with one of your arms(my right arm is a little week)

hops aren't just brute strength. But your arms should be close to even as far as that goes. My bike weighs about 28.5 lbs. and I'm getting about 20-24 inches, but I get tired and hurt my wrist if I practice to long. Use a "pocket gym" (spring loaded thing that you squeeze) to build up the weak arm and keep practicing. Make yourself do like 25-50 hops every nice day. When my wrist gets tweaked a little I switch to manuals. GET INTO MANUALS WITH THE SAME INITIAL MOVEMENTS AS HOPS (its just easier on the wrists). I've been doing both "drills" for less than a month and I'm getting better, and stronger. My arms and back are killing me but hell, lots of water and pain pills, stretches and breaks help a lot. MANUALS ARE F'n AWESOME!!!!!!

yea if u practice a lot ur back will hurt

i neva really worked on hops in the past
but in the last week i have doubled my height
(i jump skateboard decks)

I need a break from hops for my wrist but I gotta keep at it cuz I am so streaky. I think I just get tired and start over thinking it. Then my timing gets off and I work double hard for half the clearance. I LOVE MANUALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess if you clear x amount of feet just straight up hop'n you can take off about 10 inches and there is were you should be with landing your pegs. (roughly half a 20 inch rim/tire)

I don't ever plan on riding pegs cuz I got a brain tumor and shit. Keep it simple over here, no high G stunts. I am old and like landing onto nice banks. LOL

2 feet for now but I won't need much time to go two 3. Plus I'm gett'n a new frame and shaving around 2.9 pounds.

I just started riding and i got mad hops!! i can get about20 to 23 inches on a good day alittle more .. manuales are hard as shit and im practicing everyday atleast an hr .. im lovin it thought !! my arm hurts like hell but i still take my ass out there .. anyone else with some advice it would be appreciated!! thanks!!

yea stop makin excuses i make excuses myself and i kno i am but its just like that my bike is probably close to 29 pounds and i am weak i lift weights a day before i ride it helps me i bit lol u kno how weak i am i carry 10 pounds lol i cant carry more than 30 on weights now on a bike the weight is like idk how to say but u will feel it less since its a bigger object so yea

doe's any of you know what wall sits are? If you do, do them everyday and some push ups to. Push ups with fists (on carpet) hands set apart the distance of your bars. Put your back to the wall with your knees bent 90 degrees "like your gonna shit on the floor" Keep your hands OFF your knees and count to 30 or 45 or as long as you can before your knees start shaking. I do this before I go ride, my legs are jello but thats the idea. The lactic acid builds up if you keep it up day after day your hops and manuals will get easier and easier. I LOVE MANUALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im able to hop that high because i practice and shit, i dont lift weights. ever.

a light bike doesnt mean shit, i mean sure it makes it easier, but if you wanna get good, get a heavy bike and slowly progress to a light one, mines 25 now

all you have to do is pull up and jump

yea I could hop like 25 30 inches and I could do it on anyones bike so weight is not an issue you just need to learn how to tuck your legs up twoards your chest " boost" and your set

hoping just takes time, ur not going to be able to hop bar hieght right off th start...when i first started i could only hop just over peg hieght and thats with my first 32 pound bike. You just gotta keep working on the motion and stuff and it will come, i've done rails that are about 5 inchs over bar height but if i was to just hop with no obstacle it would prolly only be about stem hieght...later

i wasnt trying to be funny on my first post. i was being honest. you cant learn to hop from watching videos, just like you cant pick up pornstars from watching porn. so just go out and practice. i can hop onto ledges bar height and smith a little over bar. but i practice. so take as much constructive critisicm as you can and go out and ride.
