how do you remove standard headset cups?

this is for my old bike im putting a new fork and new standard headset into and my old cup is cracked how do i remove them?

hmm. just take it out. is it the older type where the piece that the bearing go into slot into the frame. it should slide out.

yeah, do what bloghogs said, if its not coming out, spray in some lubricant, and whack the absolute fuck out of it, it'll come out eventually, but it will take a lot of work

Bloghogs method is fine, unless you or your dads tools are snap-on. Then what you do is go to the hardware store and get a piece of brass dowel stock, 8-10" in length, and use that so you don't gouge the fram e or the extension. And you will have it the next time you need to knock something out.
