Went to a doctor and they cant seem to find the problem but here's the story,

Start of this season my left knee has been giving me some big problems when riding. The pain is not right inside the knee cap but more or less 2 - 3 inches below the center of the knee cap. First thought was nothing major as i thought it was due to lack of riding over winter. Iv moved on about a month now and the pain is getting worse. I went to see a doctor about the issue but they cant find any signs of arthritis or any other issues that could cause the discomfort. I only experience the discomfort or pain when i am getting off my bike from extensive bending of the knees. i also feel the extreme discomfort (not pain) when i bend my knees and have a lot of my weight distributed towards my knees in order to hold my balance. So in other words, the pain only comes after the riding, otherwise its just very uncomfortable while riding. the only thing i can think of to compare it to would be if your knee was bent backwards past the point of where it should have stopped bending backwards. that's more or less the feeling i am getting.

Im going on to 25 years old so im not some old bugger, thus i shouldn't be experiencing these pains just yet in my life. I run 3 - 4 miles every day and feel i am relatively fit, im 6'-1" and weigh 170lbs. Doctors checked me all out and say im in perfect health and my knees are fine.

Please tell me this is something everyone has experienced. Im freaking out because yesterday i couldn't even ride my bike because of the uncomfortable feeling i was getting, i am finding myself avoiding transferring my weight to my knees and now i cant do any of my tricks and balance my bike as well as i used to.

Cheers!

ive experienced a weird thing with my right knee before, i dont know if it was riding related or not but i got it through the winter period, so since it was winter i didnt ride as often, but when i came back from the skatepark say once every week, if i bent my knee or done like a slow donkey kick i suppose i could put it as, my knee started getting really hot and burning up real bad and i would just collapse, ive not done it in ages though and only time will tell man, hope its nothing serious smile

sometimes my knees kinda feel like what you described. for me i cant bend em much and it feels like they need oil or lube or something. i always thought it was my tendons or ligaments or something pulled or strained. i just stay of my bike for like a week(even tho its so fuckin hard) and take it easy on the knees. it usually goes away, but sometimes i wreck or slam and itll flair up again.

also now i stretch for like 15 minutes before i ride and warm up for like 15 more on my bike. it helps heaps. and maybe try one of them knee braces you see guys wearing. sometimes i gotta ride with my ankle brace.

I am laying off the bike for a good week and i got one last appointment with a specialist on the 10th. I hope for my sake its just irritation from excessive riding or running. They told me not to do any excessive movement till this appointment so they can see whats going on with my knees. Totally blows but i sure as hell don't wanna wreck my knees for good.
