lacing problem

so im lacing a wheel together so i looked up tutorials on youtube, but iv gone to the part where you cross over two spokes and then go under the third one but, when i do it the spoke is too short and i can't make it reach the rim. i tried it over and over again but now its pissing me off. Can anybody help me with this!!.(pls reply)

old dude at the bike shop will lace a set for 8 bucks. Much better than trying to firugre that sht out yourself imo

post pics so we can see if it's laced right to begin with, but usually when you start that set of spokes, you gotta pop the nipples into the holes. sometimes they get stuck on the edge of the nipple hole and don't allow the nipple to pull through right, just give it a little push and it'll pop into place. if it's not that, try pushing the hub in whole holding onto the rim, so the spoke will get closer to the hole. sometimes it just needs 1 to get started.

if it's neither of those, then the spokes you have are too short
