I need a stem for my Standard build, (it was always going to be the Promax Impact in 48mm but the slow boat from China they are on is way over due and I'm tired of holding my breath). The Thomson looks good being its a 50mm front-load with a 20mm rise. Being made from 7000 series aluminum in the USA doesn't hurt. It looks like a tank but is sub 9 ounces, (Thomson lists it at 8.7oz). I'm curious how they get the weight down with this thing being fairly large and running 8 bolts?

It looks big in the pictures. But when you see it next to another stem,it really isnt.Lots of machining keeps the weight down.
The only issue is they take up a little more room on your fork tube than most stems.

I'm not sure how this bmx stem is but I know they make some of the best stems for mtb so I imagine it would be pretty good.
