hi guys
hope this post is ok....
i can grab a 2013 eastern cremator at half of full price (around $250 aud). its a 2013 full crmo, crmo bars, no name brand components but it seems light.
i didnt want to spend 600 on a new bike,
im an adult 80kgs, avg height.
wondering if this is worth the investment, or dont waste my time?

thanks heaps
aaron

thx blaaaaaa

lbs i have spoken to are telling me i have to spend at least 600, and then their frames are not full chromoly, or dont have dbl wall rims etc...
so it LOOKs the goods, but seems a little too good to be true...

does anyone have any more ideas / suggestions?
thx heaps
aaron

Get the Cremator, double wall rims, fully sealed hubs, everything chromoly.. Really good deal for $250 if it's in good condition, if not even then it's a pretty good deal as long as things aren't broken/dented up bad.

this is the only other one ive seen new that might be in budget...

worth the difference in spend...?

The Kink or Eastern would be the best, they're really similar spec-wise. The Stolen I'd stay away from just because it has a semi-sealed cassette which aren't that good

oh thanks man i hadnt noticed the semi sealed. ok so thats off.

there also this one:

really appreciate it. dont forget im a 35 yo old dude weighing 80kg so want to make sure the bikes can stand my weight..(im not massive, but im bigger than a kid i spose)

Both the ones you just posted aren't as good as the other ones. They have sealed hubs which is nice, but not a full chromoly frame or fork

thx again!
so u think it'll hold up pretty ok?
im thinking where have they cut corners on the eastern cremator to make it so affordable?

It should, but won't be invincible. Things will bend and break after awhile but that's common with stock bikes. That's when you buy aftermarket parts that will hold up much better, but also be more pricey.

And probably just due to most of the parts being generic.

ill keep u posted.
hope i can still get the eastern
thx again so much really appreciate it

grab the eastern or find a used aftermarket bike on craigslist or whatever alternative to that site you guys have over there.

|

8/15/2014 11:24 PM

the kink is good (2013 kink transition in my profile pic), but if I could go back in time I would have found an aftermarket bike for the same price on craigslist used. I liked the bike a lot though and the one you posted is the model below it which is basically the same bike. Only thing I didn't like was the slight flex feel of the cranks and the non heat treated bars, but it didn't ruin the ride of it, just felt much better once I had upgraded those parts.

thx again yeah maybe ill keep looking for second hand ones. the eastern was sold...kink prob above budget actually.
i just might find that after a few months bmx aint for me...so trying to keep cost down if i can...

thx for ur help.
ill keep an eye out for a decent 2nd hand bike all crmo, sealed bearings abd dbl wall rims at the very least
keep u posted when i hopefully put some cash down!
