Do you ever buy ramps? There's this one on time2shine I want cuz it's metal, and folds up.

Build ramps

Building ramps is the way to go. A lot cheaper than pre-made stuff

|

Im talking fabricated metal ramps that most can't make at home. Dirt and wood are easy but dirt requires tons of maintenance and wood doesn't last as long and limits what you can build.

If you make a wooden one correctly and take care of it youll never have problems

not sure if I'm just not seeing the one you want, but I looked at the ones on time2shine... it looks like the 1/4s have minimal tranny? Won't be doing much peg action then?

If you build a wooden ramp right, and store it in like a garage, it should last quite a while.

Nope. Id use those asramps to place before rails and such. I do understand that a good wood ramp will last a long time, but the reason I'm talking about the metal ones is because many are lighter due to the way you can build them using less material, and because they are more transportable. You can fold em up and keep going, use em at a street spot. And I love wood and dirt jumps too. Dirt is more permanent, and last longer plus they are free. Wood is your go to for bigger stuff in your back yard. Quarters and grind boxes. Metal is the little stuff. Modify your line. And some are really small so if you find a street spot you can just set up and go.

Honestly I think Metal Ramps are a complete waste of time. It takes ages for them to be not slippery after it has rained, they normally slip when it's warm, and they tend to flex.

This.

I had a quarterpipe last 11 years OUTSIDE in MINNESOTA SUMMERS AND WINTERS because we painted it with exterior paint.

So as far as it not lasting, lame excuse.

As to getting prefab stuff that lasts a long time, gonna cost you a lot up front and be slippery.

Sounds both spendy, and like it would then be either worse, or like a semi-local park were it all was worn off inside of a year.

You can buy spray on plastidip at hardware stores for like $10 a can and 1 can will cover a decent sized quarter pipe. It would be like putting a rubber layer on the ramp, so very grippy. And if it doesn't work, atleast you tried. I think it could last a few months to a year, and if im right, thats just $10-30 a year to keep it working well.
