so i want to ride chainless to work on getting used to what it would be like with a freecoaster... but i dont get it... do you do something to where the cranks cant move? because i always try it and i just cant do it... i always fall because i have to have some sort of resistance... though that brings up another question... if i get a freecoaster when i coast backwards does it have any resistance or is it just like riding chainless...

and yes i realize im gonna get shit cuz i have trouble riding chainless...

just like chainless but when you try to rollout it has a lot of slack so its pretty hard to roll out at first

Chain less and a free coaster are no where near the same. AT ALL

I seek progression, not perfection.

You mean you cant slider/rollout/halfcab out of a fakie, because you use pedal pressure? I found that it helps if you do a quick slider/carve thing then do a halfcab is the easiest way to get out of a chainless fakie for me. Oh and freecoasters dont really have any backwards resistance, or that is what i have felt when i ride my friends fc.

this. freecoasters have some resistance to help keep the cranks stationary. no resistance rolling. just on the clutch which i turn will help keep your cranks stable. takes a lil practice since your balance on a cassette mainly relies on your backpedaling while a fc is like coasting. forwards but youre going backwards
