what is the benefit of a 69' seat tube angle? over a 71'?

i understand that it makes the seat more laid back and make your bottom bracket closer to the front of the bike. but why? i cant find a good explanation as to why someone would want this change.

im into super techy riding and love a small responsive frame. everyone tells me that a 69 degree ST is more more techy riding. i just dont get why.

Wrong, it makes the frame feel even shorter than it really is. I have a 69ST and I like it.

a 69 st makes it feel bigger than it really is, not smaller. and a 70/71 is average and keeps the feel the way it really is.

No it makes it feel smaller. The Seattube Angle being more mellow means the Toptube will become longer, but the Bottom Bracket will still be the same distance away from the Headtube. However most Frames with a 69ST have the Toptube as the effective length, so what it would be if it had a 71ST.

the bb gets pushed closer to the front of the bike, making the cockpit area feel shorter. The distance between the feet and the grips is shorter.
wheel base is the same.

Tt length is an accurate measurement, not theoretical. However, bb position can affect the "feel" of the bike. 69deg st means the bb is closer to the ht, has a shorter dt, and you would "feel" more on top of the front end. A 1 degree difference is roughly equivalent to 1/8", therefore a 21" tt with a 69 st would "feel" like 20.75" tt (w a 71 st angle)

Hope that helps

seat tube at 69 measures longer than it really is. hence making more room for the riders legs. it feels bigger. but it makes it respond like its a smaller frame. little miscommunication there. probably just the wording

madvillan knows whats up

Madvillain pretty much has it, I have a 20" top tube frame with a 69 degree seat tube angle. The top tube measures closer to 20.25" The bottom bracket is closer to the front wheel which supposedly helps with spins especially coupled with short cranks. I mean there's so many different options right now so no set up will ever be the same. I feel personally its such a small difference i dont really notice little things like that. Obviously i noticed going from a 21.25" TT with a 13.75" CS to a 20" TT with a 13" CS. Im all for the super short tech frames now! 75.5 HTA is also pretty damn badass too! "Tech" frames are the shit!
