I bought a schwinn xs stem for five dollars, I'm polishing it and was wondering, what happened to schwinn xs and the legitimate shwinn bmx program? The stem us pretty cool, topload, and the fork clamping area is wierd. 
And to ohian or anyone that would be able to properly answer, does the weird clamping design affect performance?

Weren't they owned by GT in the end? Probably got cut off once the company was taken over in the early '00's.

No, its so it doesnt hurt as much when you smash your knee on it, but itll still hurt.

I believe 34r uses this design on one of their stems. I like it. Dont see any flaws in the design.

OG stems are sweet. I used to run an old haro backtrail stem that i split the faceeplate on myself

Man this thing is awesome takes Me back to middle school. I just finally retired my old set of xs bars. And the hubs they had than were pretty beastly . I'm pretty sure back in the early 00s they were bought out by Pacific cycles with gt Robinson mongoose and dyno . It's a shame schwinn had a sick team back than even huffy. I love those mid school rides!
