Are signature parts really designed by the rider?
If so, would it be illegal to copy or rebrand a certain "signature" parts and sell it?

Its usually a rider influenced company design
and yes, copying stuff like that for profit would be illegal

The is a thing called copyright infringement. Look it up. Regardless, most shit is the same anyways.

riders usually pick the geometry of the part. And I'm willing to bet some of them chhose the material specs too like width, thickness, circumference etc
I'm on the vital legit list!
Just take the name off and it's not copywrite. Premium with their Stray frame and Aurora frame , they take the names off and still sell them.

Signature parts are usually either the result of whoever designs the company's parts sitting down with the rider, and asking them what they want. Or they might just be a part with a popular rider's name on it to make it sell. *cough cough Premium CK cough cough*
And they can sell it, I don't see why you think they couldn't. Just remove the rider's name from the part and anywhere on the part, and change it. Much like Fit did with a lot of their grips. They used to have the Dak & Dehart grips, but once both those riders parted ways with Fit, they just removed the rider's name from the mold used to make the grip, and then marketed them as the Repeater & Tech grips, respectively.
That's just one example. If a part is really popular & the rider stops riding for them, they just change the name and keep it going.

How about if a company copied a signature part that is still in the market and then rebrand it and put a name on it with one of their riders and then call tht part their signature part.

I wouldn't think there's anything wrong with that as long as no logos from the other companies frames, bars, etc. are copied

I think if it was 100% the same or really really close there could be a lawsu
it
*assuming it was copying a different companies part

As long as no logos, heat treatment techniques, or patents aren't violated, then any company can make whatever the hell they want.
Look at the Fit Dugan bars & Subrosa Villicus bars
Fit:
Rise: 8.75"
Width: 28.5"
Backsweep: 12°
Upsweep: 1°
Crossbar Height: 6.5"
Crossbar Width: 10.75"
Weight: 32.3 oz
Subrosa:
Rise: 8.75"
Width: 29"
Backsweep: 12°
Upsweep: 1°
Crossbar Height: 6.5"
Crossbar Width: 10.75"
Weight: 28.5 oz
They are down the EXACT same specs except the Subrosa's are 1/2" wider. They were the most similar signature bars I could find, and both utilize different logos & heat treatments. So it's fair game to copy something like that.

Lol thats pretty funny. Even though the villicus are heavier, id be willing to bet that they are from very very similar tubing sets.

The tube thicknesses are different, but otherwise that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen

what if the specs they posted are the same? even the weight and the order. even the heat treatment names like "4Q baked" , "41 thermal" etc. exact copy except the logo and the name.

It's a case of choosing standover height, bottom bracket height, head tube angle, seat tube angle, and the length of the chain stay. Majority of frames are near enough identical and many are made in the same factories.
This guy is talking about BMX companies in the Philippines who buy parts from the factories that make parts for bmx companies from the US.
I've personally seen a Primo Hollowbite replica (because they're obvious to spot) and some kind of Shadow Rant replica.
They just slap on their stickers and sell cheap.
