I've been running my spline drive sprocket since 2007 and i love it! No issues yet! It doesn't have any feel differences just makes the bike simpler to work on and cleaner.

It will usually help eliminate tight and loose spots in your chain because your sprocket is not being pulled in towards your crank arm by a bolt.
It's not really worth the money to upgrade, but if you need a new sprocket and have a 48 splined crank already it is a good way to go.

Not really, and definitely reduces the amount of work on your drivetrain setup. If you ever do get it, make sure you grease the splines on the sprocket and spindle damn well and ride it for a little to break in the splines so it won't be such a bitch to take on and off for adjustment

i really have nothing els i want for my bike that costs 150 and i want to put the rewards to good use so some spline drive cranks seem like the perfect addition to make my bike a little better. any suggestions on cranks? I'm left food forward so i need to get 3 piece cranks in order to use spline I'm pretty sure. know anything about the stolen team 22 cranks? or i could just wait to see if those new shadow cranks are gonna be 3 piece

i have 2 sets of stolen teams both the 19mm version so id imagine the 22's are even better! but that limits your choices down to the united spline drive and profile galaxy.

Socket Drive Thunderbolts, and then hit up Tree to pick up a 25T Socket Drive Lite sprocket prototype for $69.99. Definitely the best interface for cranks and sprockets so far. Super simple and strong. And it does feel really, really smooth! Plus you have a lifetime warranty on the cranks.

Would I be able to run the socket drive on the right hand side?
Spline drive is cool. I miss it. Just eliminates possibilities of things breaking and improves chain alignment. However its almost IMPOSSIBLE to run slammed with spline drive. Thunderbolts w/ Tree socket drive sounds like the most perfect set up since you should be able to run slammed with it easily and they are considered the best cranks and sprocket available. If youre not going to run slammed, then just about any 48s crank is good these days. Preferably Fit Indent 24s w/ Èclat Channel sprocket or any Èclat crank w/ Tree 22mm SD prototype.

If you get LHD Thunderbolts than the socket drive side will be on the right.

False. The socket drive cranks are only available in RHD right now. The Tree sprocket and Odyssey sprocket(Killington) are the only ones that work with it right now.

What? LHD thunders work with RHD socket drive? You basically just restated everything I just said and told me im wrong?
And I didnt mention the socket drive only thunders because he said hes shopping from dans and dans doesn't have them.

Its nearly impossible to get the spline drive sprocket on the way that you have to in order to run slammed.

Socket Drive doesn't work with non Socket Drive Thunderbolts. Socket Drive sprockets only worth with specific Socket Drive Thunderbolts. So Socket Drive is RHD only for the time being.

Don't buy regular Thunderbolts dude. The Socket Drive interface is ONLY on Socket Drive Thunderbolts, it does NOT come on regular Thunderbolts and Socket Drive sprockets will NOT worth with regular Thunderbolts. You need the specific Socket Drive Thunderbolts to run Socket Drive, and they only come in RHD.
I own the exact setup I mentioned in my first post in this thread (Well, same thing but with a 28T), so I can back it up.

Are you positive? Im 99% sure I know someone running a killington on bolt drive thunders.

I am 110% sure. Your bike wouldn't even work because there is nothing connecting your sprocket to your cranks. The sprocket adapter on the bolt drive Thunderbolts is 15/16", while the inner circle when drawing a Socket Drive interface is 25.95mm.
