Is it recommended to put grease on your spokes threads? I never have before but im getting my new hub and spokes in today. Just curious.

I laced my old hub to a new rim yesterday. A few of the old spokes were seized so I ended up dipping the threads on the new spokes in grease when I was lacing it.

probably wont hurt to do so, i mean, spoke threads are small as hell and i guess if one is nervous about possibly stripping them somehow then might as well go for it, i mean as long as you keep spoke tension i guess...

I dipped my spoke tips in 3in one oil after I had run each spoke through the corresponding hole in the wheel. It made a HUGE difference while tightening them all! I also put a tiny bit on the nipple/rim intreface after I threaded them all on initially, which I believe George recommends to do in his Gsport wheel building guide, here
