So I ordered spokes from a different company than I ordered rims and hubs. surprise, had to change my order. So now I have 188mm spokes and need them to be 184mm! I am thinking it will be best to return and reorder 184 spokes compared to trimming and re threading. what do you think?

if your shop has a spoke cutter then just get them cut. no sense sending them back and wasting money with return shipping fees

If you can trim and re thread them yourself I see no point in going through the order process again. Its pretty damn easy to do.

Will I need to re thread if I am only cutting off 4mm?

You will need to re-thread them, so if you can, I would just send them back.

Also, depending on the threading machine used, and the person operating it, you might end up with some poorly threaded spokes.

Return and get correct sizes.
