I think you need to loosen the pinch bolts. They're the ones on the sides.

no i mean when they are loose and i try to put the stem on the actual forks it wont go onto the forks
i think the problem may be with the forks because they are stock forks but im not sure

Some stems I actually had to tap them on with a Rubber Malet, then it fit just fine.

They might be defective, if they fit upside down but not right side up then its probably a manufactures defect, take it to a shop to make sure

If it doesn't fit you might have gotten a bad stem or maybe your steerer tube is alittle bent

Probably a defective stem. My friend left his bike at the park one day and I flipped his bike. Put his cranks on crooked, his front wheel on backwards, turned his seat backwards, flipped his stem around, put his bars on backwards abd upside down, forks backwards, etc.

One thing I couldnt do is put his stem on upside down. It just wouldn't go on that way. So your stem probably got machined upside down causing this problem. I would call whoever you ordered it from or Odyssey and get it replaced

You can take a round file and file it lightly until it fits if replacing it will be that much of a problem.

Remove the pinch bolts and thread the bottom one in from the other side. Put a coin in the slot so when you tighten the bolt it spreads the stem slightly so you can get it on the fork. That should work unless the stem is really messed up.

You wont even need a tenth of a turn with the coin method so be careful or you will fuck up the stem.
