The Fit that is that price is mostly a hi-ten frame and hi-ten fork. The Bama is full chromo. For some reason I can't see why anyone would buy a hi-ten bike when they can get full chromoly frame and fork for the same price. That doesn't make any sense. The Bama has double wall rims and chromoly bars too. That's a way better deal than any of the Fit bikes I saw anywhere.
Unfortunately yeah it's got less chromo in the frame, bar and fork. But that doesn't say anything about the quality of the welds and overall geo and parts selection so it's hard to say. I mean the hoffman looks like a bike from 10 years ago with that low standover height and the fit just looks more modern.
Now of course it would matter to you and I but to someone getting an entry level complete how much will it matter? I think having a comfortable, light, dialed looking bike with a sexy color scheme is going to make more difference than the type of tubing used (weight: 26.5 lbs for the hoffman & 25.9 for the fit dugan)
But you know what? Hoffman's been in the business longer than anybody and knows what they're doing. Plus my buddy rides for Hoffman so yeah get the Hoffman!!!!!!
