Ive recently seen a couple of parts that claim to have fluted tubes, can someone explain what it is, and the benefits of this.

fluted tubing. Fluted tubing flows the material in axis the tube is required to be stiff. In forks' cases, it’s the bending moment between the axle and the head set. Think about rolling up some corrugated card with the corrugations running the length of your rolled tube yet the corrugations are on the inside of the tube.

Grooves inside or outside the tubes. Makes the stronger. You might also find 'rifling' which is spiral grooves inside the tube.
